201 UNC (PBS) HD
211 WTVD (ABC) HD
217 WNCN (NBC) HD
250 WRAZ (FOX) HD
255 WRAL (CBS) HD
280 Discovery HD Theater
281 TNT HD
all with the 'digital' tier and HD box
285 HBO HD
286 Showtime High Definition
411 HBO HD
451 Showtime HD
if you have HBO/SHO
and yes, it's the same channel on two different numbers.
they also offer this for 6 bucks a month
290 ESPN HD
291 INHD
292 INHD2
293 HD Net
294 HDNet Movies
295 Universal HD
299 HD Movies On Demand

but the two times I've tried it for a month free, I didn't feel like i'd get anything out of it...universal HD is new, I don't know what their lineup is.

HD content can look incredible, and the DVR makes it easy. However, the problem with tv as a whole, imho, is finding something 'worth' watching.

Chew: Activated Voom boxes? how does that work? what do you get on them? and I assume you still need a satellite installed. Or are you just using it as a way to get HD OTA [with an antenna]?

Don't have a HDTV. Have absolutely no plans to upgrade to a HDTV. If my TV died today I most likely would NOT get a HDTV. Don't have a TIVO or any other PVR either.

I've never seen HDTV so I don't know what I may be missing, nor do I really care all that much. I hate my cable company and how much I pay for plain old basic cable. I don't really see the point in paying extra to see the crappy shows they put on the networks come in a little bit clearer and in widescreen.

I'm strictly using it for OTA w/antenna. No need for any kind of dish or satellite, it's only to get your local channels. Obviously, no fees are involved beyond buying the receiver.

Just a cheap option for people who want HD and don't have it yet.

I'm waiting for my Tivo to be forced into retirement when the S-3's come outand DirecTV forces an upgrade. Maybe by then there will be more actual HD broadcast television that I'd genuinely watch.

I'm will to bet that most of the people who even came into this thread had HDTV, the rest of us without wouldn't bother...

Nope. No interest in it at this point. Maybe in 5-10 years.

Only a handfull of channels available at the moment, but every Red Sox game in HD is good enough for me.

I have a Samsung 30inch SlimFit HDTV. It has gorgeous picture when showing HD channels. I find myself watching lots of PBS shows because they're in HD.

Coming up on 1 year of 50" DLP HD goodness with all the possible channels from Cox Cable. I would never go back to SD.

I'd like to have one, but can't really afford it, and still not much programming in HD that I watch regularly outside of sports. Want to wait for the HD-DVD/Blu ray format war to get settled as well before buying into an HD movie format, so really not in much of a rush.

Kind of a bad time to buy a big tv now (have no interest in a small HDTV, more anxious to upgrade for size than resolution really since I have a 27" TV now) as I may end up moving to Taiwan in then next couple of years. And will be moving somewhere upon finishing my Ph D even if its still in the U.S.

Have really enjoyed the past few sports seasons with HD. Nature programming looks awesome. What shows I watch on network look great in HD.

House
NCIS
Lost
Invasion

Got HD cable a few months back...love the hell out of it... would like a few more channels, but we do have quite a few (east and west versions of :nbc, abc, cbs, fox. CBC, Discovery, TMN, CTV, Global, TSN...wish Rogers cable would pick up an HD WB and UPN affiliate) other than a small few shows not being shown HD, pretty much have some great channel selection and of course, the image is worth every extra penny it costs.

Wow, old thread. I didn't back when this was created, but I do now. Just a 26" Samsung LCD for DVD's, over the air HD, and some video games.
