I'm glad this started late here. I tuned in late, but I caught most of it and I was surprised at how good this was. I don't know why they put the Demi Moore joke in the Weekend Update clips, though. I know they were being facetious when they did their celebration thing, but it was even more ridiculous considering it wasn't even worded right. It seems like it should've been more like, "...but she feels 25 inside." That PS2/phone joke was really horrible too. The rest of the WU clips were really good though.

I know lots of people here like to hate Fallon, but personally i think he's been one of the few performers still worth tuning in for during the last few years. Excellent 'Best Of...", laughed quite a bit although i missed the first 15 minutes.

I couldn't stand him when he was a regular, so I couldn't bring myself to watch this.
It is too bad really. Fallon was one of my faves early on. But with him constantly breaking character with Horatio Sanz, he really got on my nerves until I just couldn't stand him anymore.

Jimmy was the subject of Playboy's 20 questions this month. They asked, (#12) You had a reputation at SNL as the cast memeber most likely to break character and start laughing in the middle of a skit. how does a guy end up in comedy without being able to keep a straight face?
He says, he accepts some of the responsibility but some of them weren't his fault. Will Ferrell would always try to break him up. It started with the "cow bell" skit with Blue Oyster Cult. When he was about to do his line, he saw Will with his gut hanging out, glasses falling off, and he was sweating, and his eyes were going crazy. So, that would always be a running thing. There was a hot tub scene, and Will kept pinching him underwater, and no one could see it.
He says, he's apologized so many times to Lorne Michaels but there came a point where Lorne didn't care anymore.
Other questions of possible interest:
13. Favorite SNL experience?
A. The mirror skit with Mick Jagger.
14. You looked disheveled on WU?
A. 1st time he had to wear a suit, and he learned how to tie a tie for WU.
16. If Tina gets a new male co-anchor, will you come back unannounced?
A. That's going to happen regardless.
17. Why did you leave SNL?
A. He had a 3 year exit plan, but ended up being 6. But then goes on to talk about Alumni, such as Dan Aykroyd. Dan came in one time, and took a lot of the cast on tour of the building and showed them all of the secret places. Apparently Dan was friendly with the janitors and had keys to everything. Including a window that leads to an outdoor lawn with grass and a pond.
20. Who's a better kisser, Ian McKellen or Gwyneth paltrow?
A. Gwyneth, won't say if thats an honest answer.

Glad to see my favorite was on there - the one with he and Affleck doing the radio show. "And we're baaack!!!" Really I like it b/c I think Affleck is amazing as a guest host.

Thought it was a good compilation. As stated earlier, the Barry Gibb talk show is hilarious, as was the "cork soaker" sketch. I didn't see any "Nick Burns - your company's computer guy" on there, but those probably weren't up there with the best he did, I always found them funny though. I liked Fallon's Seinfeld impersonation right there next to Jerry, and the radio sketch was also great, "AND WE'RE BACK!!"

Best of Jimmy Fallon? Now there's an oxymoron if I've ever heard one. The only thing I ever saw with him that was funny because of him was when the Olsen Twins were the guest and he was playing a radio DJ who was constantly ragging on them and then saying it was a joke.
My problems with Fallon go beyond breaking character. Firstly, that's not something you do. Maybe once or twice. But really, if you're a professional comedian, you don't break like he does. I don't care if it's Will Ferrell or Sid Caesar trying to make you laugh, you stick it out. And he really has no excuse when you look at the mid-90's cast which had Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, etc. Any one of those performers had the potential to crack up all the others, but I can't remember seeing a skit where any of them crack.
The biggest problem I have with Jimmy Fallon is that he comes off like some poor man's amalgamation of Mike Meyers and Adam Sandler, without the humorous qualities of either. He has no persona of his own.
I would rather see 90 minutes of the Prince Show skit than even five minutes of Jimmy Fallon.

I've never been the biggest Fallon fan -- in fact, I rarely found him to be that amusing -- but I have to admit this was a really funny 90 minutes.
Perhaps he has 90 minutes of funny material, spread over the course of 4 or 5 seasons?

I'm glad I tuned in - because of the Jeopardy skit. I love those skits! But, not because of Fallon, because of Hammond.
I wish they'd do an all jeopardy show.
