Will ABC pair Alias with Desperate Housewives?
As we all know, Alias has been put on hold until January. I was wondering if ABC will put Alias back in its old timeslot which is currently occupied by Desperate Housewives, or if it might move it to a different night altogether.
IMO, I think that if they put Alias on before or after DH it would prove a good marketing ploy. They would have two hours of TV focused upon strong willed women, though Syd is definitely more noble than the ladies on DH. I honestly think that if they could get Alias on the air after DH, currently the #1 drama on TV, it would help boost its ratings and elevate it from the cult status it has now.

As far as I know - Desperate Housewives will occupy the slot until Alias comes back. Then ABC will air Alias Season 4 for 22 weeks straight w/out interruption.
ABC hasn't announced it's plan for DH. But w/ it's awesome ratings, I wouldn't be surprised to see them move Alias, which has never come close to the ratings that DH is getting in that timeslot.

Doubt it.
I see them moving Alias to Wednesdays at 9 to pair it with Lost. It is a much better fit. They'll move The Bachelor to Mondays since MNF will be over then.

You're right. It would make more logic to have two hours of J.J. Abrams shows. It could also make crossovers more fluid.

Although I hope it doesn't happen, I wouldn't be surprised to see this show end up on Thursdays somewhere. ABC hasn't had traction on that night in forever and while Alias doesn't have one of the biggest audiences on TV, it does have a loyal one that ABC might believe would follow it to Thursdays. Maybe an Extreme Makeover/Bachelor/Alias team or something.
I'd say that maybe it could move to Wed, but we all saw what happened to that Karen Sisco show, which went for a similar audience. Not to say that Alias couldn't make a better go at things there, but it might be enough to make ABC think twice.
Regardless of what happens, I seriously doubt it will go back to Sundays now that ABC is winning that night. The bad thing is that it even w/ a cult audience, it almost always hurts a show when you move it around after it has already been on a few years.
Just my 2 cents!

I'm betting Boston Legal will be cancelled by then, so it can move into the 10pm Sunday slot.

Boston Legal is winning its time slot. Yeah, there is a sizeable dropoff from DH, but I doubt that ABC will cancel it.
Re: Karen Sisco failing. That was on at 10 pm, not 9 pm. The 9 pm Wed competition is not that stiff. The O.C. is gone. West Wing is fading. King of Queens is strong, but not that strong.

I don't think people will quit watching Alias if it moves. It has a small audience that will follow it wherever it goes.

True 'dat. In fact, I have always thought it would do better outside the Sunday night timeslot because I bet much of the target audience is watching whatever HBO airs at that time.

That's why I never started watching it. It started in the pre-ReplayTV era for me and with football and HBO stuff, I never watched it. Didn't want to pick it up midstream either. I'll wait for the basic cable 5 eps/week run (on TNT next fall) to start watching it (like I am doing with Gilmore Girls now).

I also think much has to do with the strength of ABC's mid season shows. If ABC has some solid new shows waiting, the 9pm post-Lost and post-DH slots are valuable real-estate. It would make more sense for them to try to launch new shows there, rather than one that already has exposure and is entering its 4th season. If they learned anything from the Millionaire debacle, it is that they need to use the hits to launch new shows. I don't know...I still see it going to either Mondays or Thursdays.

The futon critic just posted that "Desperate Housewives" was just picked up for a full season. No word on how that will affect Alias.

I think it's kind of telling that ABC didn't really anticipate this show doing well, since they originally only had it for half a season.

Looks like ABC will be finding Alias a new timeslot.

Dude, the entire show so far is available on DVD. Why not just get caught up? Duh.
