Re: 'Ghost Hunters' Fifth Season

I haven't missed an episode of this show, but for whatever reason, I haven't made it through a single episode of the current season. I fall asleep halfway through.

Might be because I've been looking through some of the conspiracy theories about their rigging and and now suspect. If I ever find out 100% they're rigging things, I won't watch again.

But like mentioned before, there have been several items of evidence that I think are legit (some of the weird stuff at that Buffalo train depot, the lighthouse, the state pen, etc.), but it seems like they're going through the motions anymore.

Maybe they should have Kris Williams start wearing less, or lower cuts tops or soemthing......

I used to love the show to death - and I still think the St. Augustine's Lighthouse show was legit - but I have a really hard time getting into it or believing anything since the Halloween ep. Actually...I haven't even watched one since then.

Is there any proof that theyre faking everything? Just one bit of evidence is all I need to drop this show. I dont want just what people think how it could be faked, just evidence.

Looks as if Jason & Grant are making "bank" with their show, since they just bought some huge Inn (The Spalding Inn) they are renovating and had the GHI team investigate on last night's show since they had some going on's there. They were able to catch some EVP's.

Yeah, I agree...the show just isn't the same anymore...sigh.

I agree as well, the new season is a tad dull.

I think most people can see that the coat tug was faked for ratings. However, anyone who compares GH to Most Haunted is just being a Mary.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uD0dPhr9cQ

Seriously, just look up most haunted fake in youtube, there are so many examples of the yvette chick stomping her leg and stuff. My favorite was this Mary loves Dick bit and the one where she moans when she thinks the camera is off of her, but the camera was actually looking right at a mirror opposite her. So we see her moaning and then asking if anyone else heard that. GH is not this bad and GHI is just stupid.

yet Most Haunted doesn't add the stupid suspenseful music that GH has - ruining the occurances of sound. Most Haunted also relys on mediums which in of itself I personally don't find credible (in the slightest).

Re: 'Ghost Hunters' Fifth Season

GH probably uses the music to keep the audience thinking something will happen soon, since it usually is pretty slow. Especially in the first couple seasons they didn't find stuff nearly as often. Another really annoying GH thing is how they explain every episode what an EVP is and when they use a K2 they have to explain that. It gets old for those of us who have watched it more than once.

I do continue watching GH though, since it usually is them trying to debunk instead of trying to find paranormal activity that is not able to be debunked. When I first saw most haunted, on travel channel I think, I thought it was pretty neat so I went online to see if I could find any other episodes. That is when I found the truth on youtube. Never have seen a second episode. I imagine it would be the same as if the GH live event with the coat tug was my first episode of GH, I probably wouldn't tune in again.

It seems to me though that the coat tug is the exception to the rule on GH. Some of my favorite things on GH has been the ghost running on the catwalk and the FLIR of that man with a military cap standing next to them. Those were pretty cool to see.

Fixed. If these guys are not faking stuff (and I believe they are) then the only thing their evidence proves is that something happened and they didn't have enough knowledge available to explain it. "a door appeared to close by itself. I can't figure out why. It must be a ghost." Its the ghost within the gaps and it definitely isn't science.

Personally I believe they never find anything because, quite frankly, there's nothing to find. Most Haunted is obviously a fraud, as is any show that uses psychics. GH just seems boring a lot because, well, these places aren't really haunted.

Apparently you don't watch the show because there have been several episodes where they do get some good evidence. My point was, if they are "fakes" then why aren't we seeing all sorts of crazy activity on a weekly basis.

Heh. They haven't found much in 4 yrs. Have they "debunked" the Armory episode where the camera man had his bag fly up and knock him out? Have they "debunked" the St. Augestine's Lighthouse? I think most of the evidence they do come up with is legit....but I do realize this show is on the Sci-Fi channel and they're not going to let these guys occupy 8 hours of their air time without something happening.

Actually, yes, they've debunked the Armory. Not the SAL, though, although there's theories.

I really liked that episode too. Definitely the highlight of the season thus far.

But their whole deal is that they go in trying to find an explanation OTHER than "it's a ghost".

The thing that has me skeptical about them faking certain hauntings is that their whole business relies on their credibility.

So any comment on last night's episode of the two boats they investigated?

Any thoughts on the "Get off my ship" EVP they recorded?

Giles 05-07-09 09:45 AM

Re: 'Ghost Hunters' Fifth Season

of course my DVR didn't record the show - "shit!" and SciFi doesn't reair the shows after Wednesday evening.

EVP's are usually compelling evidence but unfortunately there's nothing stopping them from faking it.

Giles 05-07-09 10:04 AM

Re: 'Ghost Hunters' Fifth Season

^ also I don't like how Grant and Jason tell the person what they think they hear on the EVP, that person should have to chance initially to say what he or she thinks the EVP is saying.

Rockmjd23 05-07-09 10:07 AM

Re: 'Ghost Hunters' Fifth Season

Yeah that's a trick that EVP proponents sometimes do I've noticed. They say what they want the person to hear, then they play it to them. If you know what to listen for, you can go along with it, but if they played it normally it's just a garbled mess.

Giles 05-07-09 10:10 AM

Re: 'Ghost Hunters' Fifth Season

I can't remember the episode, but one series of EVP's that were recorded and played back, Grant and Jason didn't have to say nearly anything, the woman knew exactly the voice and broke down crying - if that's fakery, that's just downright mean of TAPS to enact something like that. It was the one EVP, that seemed geniune, it was chilling and sad at the same time.
