That finale episode was hilarious. This program was incredibly hit or miss, but it was definitely unique, and when they hit, it was very funny. I'll miss it.

This show really was hit or miss, but I heard some of the funniest lines that I've ever heard on television while watching this show.

When I was in 7th grade I went to a taping of Remote Control and afterwards got Colin Quinn's autograph on which he wrote (and I quote verbatim) "Quit looking at me, c___sucker!" (dashes included)

Thank God.

What a waste of flesh Colin Quinn is. He has no business hosting a show. Apparently, I saw all those "miss" shows instead of the good ones.

Colin Quinn is not funny IMO, not exactly sure how he lasted on SNL for as long as he did.

This show was terrible. Quinn has never ever been funny imo. This thing should've just been called Meat Head Crowd with Three Rednecks, a Gay Guy and a Pansy Liberal.

Quinn sucked and was a horrible host but the panel was almost always good for quite a few laughs.

Can't say I'm surprised. I watched this show four a good three months straight. But they just didn't have enough new people to keep it interested.

That, and Patrice O'Neal is a fucking cocky, hypocritical, unintelligent asshole. He never did his research, and just ended up calling people, with clear-cut opions, 'poopyheads'. Some of the shit he said was better fit for Crossballs. Ugh, I despise that guy. Some of his stand-up that I heard seemed funny. But I haven't watched all of it, just because I know him from Tough Crowd.

Quinn's not really all that funny but his panel usually more then makes up for him.

Mush like Last Comic Standing it gave me a chance to see comedians that I have never heard of before and some of them are really funny and I'll probably check them out when they come to my town.

I watched this a few times. Based on the promos, I was expecting to get comics reaction/discussion on various events and news. But for the most part it was watching unfunny people I'd never heard of rip on each other.

So glad this show is gone.

The test run, before it became a regular series, was great.

Then the show started a downhill plunge by adopting the "how many gay & race jokes can we fit in" philosophy.

Then it got even worse, as Colin became a real jackass. It got painful to listen to him st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-stuttering his way through his horrid weekly monologues or when he interrupted his guests. That interrupting happened with more and more frequency, until Colin became the centerpiece of the show.

Then they started bringing in people that couldn't work well in the show's format. Jackie Mason. Legendary comic. Totally sucked on the show. You could see how confused and lost he was.

The show could have been salvaged if Comedy Central wanted to. The first step, of course, would be to fire Colin. Secondly, they needed to expand the show to an hour. Too many times, someone on the panel would get the only say on the subject before moving on. Or worse, they'd start to say something, and Colin would interrupt and start st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-st-stuttering some incomprehensible garbage and take up the rest of the allotted time.

I really liked the show, not for the politics, or for Colin, but the panel and the atmosphere of hanging out with friends. It was also an adequate substitute for the Opie and Anthony show, as most of the people (Quinn included) were regulars there. My favorites were, Norton, Patrice, Giraldo, Dipaolo, Vos, and Keith

And you guys got it all wrong, Quinn doesn't so much stutter as mumble so incoherently that it sounds like the same word he is tripping on.

Oh well, O&A are back, so I don't care really that it's canceled

I'm reading South Park Conservatives (published on 4.01.05) and there's a few pages devoted to "Tough Crowd." In the book it says: It went on "hiatus" in late 2004, but its key performers are involved in numerous other Comedy Central projects, and the network is looking to revive the series in a retooled format in 2005.

That's news to me. I watched the last episode of "Tough Crowd" and it seemed...well...pretty final. But then I saw this over at the show's TVTome site: Greg Giraldo will be hosting this exact format of show on comedy central starting in april 05'. first episode tapes april 7th.

April has come and gone. Anyone have any specifics about this show? Did Comedy Central pass on it?

According to Jim Norton of Opie and ANthony fame, the show was constantly being censored for the commentators views and stances on issues. Jim says it was a bunch of liberal pc bitches that caused both the censorship and the eventual cancellation.

Which I don't understand, because this type of show was not being marketed to people that would want this type of stuff censored.

Norton's point is that Comedy Central censors the views on Tough Crowd to a higher degree than the Daily Show because the CC people fall on the left side of the spectrum, and TC trended right.
