The Apprentice - 9\23

Is this ending built up just for the TV cameras?

Steam 09-23-04 08:49 PM

I don't know but is it possible for a show to "jump the Magic 8-ball"?

TabascoKid 09-23-04 08:53 PM

Shark sighting.

j123vt_99 09-23-04 08:58 PM

ok.. so I wasn't crazy in my thinking... at least I pay my taxes

TwineTime 09-23-04 09:01 PM

This show seems to get worse every week.

gettinbranded 09-23-04 09:01 PM

Dons going crazy too...

ClarkKentKY 09-23-04 09:02 PM

I'm sick of Roshambo Board Rooms. Trump won't leave the format alone. He could learn a little bit from Probst.

"AND FOR THE FIRST TIME THE RULES ... ARE ... BROKEN!"

-rolleyes- Hardly seemed like an issue.

Pressplay 09-23-04 10:08 PM

Trump's phone negotiation fake-out was just lame!
And why is he asking the others what he should do? Is he the boss or not? Me thinks he's going to turn into just plain Donald and lose his "The" pretty soon.

MrX 09-23-04 10:31 PM

Watching this episode tonight made Trump's comments about being robbed at the Emmys when the Amazing Race won even more funny.

ClarkKentKY 09-23-04 11:27 PM

What was with the extremely lame royal trumpet music when Trump was coming down the escalator?

I was just getting ready to come in and post about how this show is starting to suck, but see I've been beat to the punch.

It's getting really old seeing companies and products whored out each week. Mattel, Toys R Us, Dunkin Donuts, and now Crest toothpaste. The first season was kind of neat because the contestants were running around doing these weird assignments for Trump himself. Now it's just kind... irritating.

And now, two of the first three firings have been stunt firings. He's kicking out people for whatever reason now instead of the ones who fuck up the job. Bradford did a good job, but he's fired because Trump goaded him into giving up his exemption. And now Stacie was fired -- not because she fucked up the current assignment -- but because she was playing with a Magic Eight Ball a couple of weeks ago?

This season will only be worth watching to see how big of a trainwreck it becomes.

I disagree. Trump is firing ppl based on who he thinks has the ability to run his company.

Bradford was talented but he was so full of himself. He made brash decisions without thinking. He let his cockiness get the best of him and that's why he was fired.

Trump fired Stacie J cuz she was a cancer to the team. Everyone thought that she was a wierdo and for 2 straight weeks, everyone wanted to fire her.

Don't worry though, Ivana, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Maria won't become the apprentice anyway so they'll all get fired eventually. It'll probably be one of the guys.

Oh yeah, Elizabeth and the bridal shop owner (Sandy?) are some pretty nice eye candy

It's really nice to see someone who can actually defend Donald Trump's decisions, although in reality only famewhores would apply or even want to work for The Donald's mostly bankrupt corporate empire. This season's contestants are significantly worse than the previous season and the tasks have become corporate promotional tools. I can see the show's ratings going down during this season once viewers realize that the unpredictability of this show is mainly due to Trump's egotistical and impulsive instead of logical and sound decisions. While this show still has some entertainment values, just don't expect to learn any real business lessons.

movieking 09-24-04 07:27 AM

Not a great episode, but I am glad the nutcase is gone.

zuckuss 09-24-04 07:34 AM

The show is sinking fast for me. I guess it's the same for most, since we're still on page 1.

Bradford did a good job but was fired because Trump goaded him into giving up his immunity. Then Trump ran around this week pointing out to other contestants that they shouldn't make the mistake Bradford did. Come on, there was no mistake. Look, at how Trump himself created the infrastructure of his game. These people are in their mini-corporations. Bradford gave up his individual immunity to try to repair some of the divisions in his corporation. He made a selfless decision to help his company. Trump got it wrong when he turned it around to that act being something that would destroy a corporation. No Trump the act wasn't destructive it was constructive. You just plain got it wrong and there was no indication that he would act in a way that would damage his corporation. He never did yet he was fired because he was trying to help his corporation.

Funny stuff. Reminded me of "Derek Newcastle" on Joe Schmoe 2.

pezboy 09-24-04 08:47 AM

Didn't I read somewhere about a big controversy when they filmed the whole Crest thing? Something about one of the teams hiring random people to help ship or transport or carry cases back and forth. That person passed out or something. Hell was raised. Does that sound familiar?

I should really search the web before I post questions like this now that I type this.

pezboy 09-24-04 08:54 AM

I found it...

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-168547c.html

A spy tells Lowdown that after handing out tube after tube of the decay-preventing dentifrice to passersby, the "Apprentice" team enlisted a plump 51-year-old woman to haul the unsightly empty boxes back to a nearby truck and haul back armsful of sparkling-new boxes.

Who knows if this is true. If it is, I wonder if this was the men or the women? Hmmmm.

Red Dog 09-24-04 08:55 AM

Boy it is like everyone is jumping ship on The Apprentice at once. I don't know what was so different about this episode than others.

Phil L. 09-24-04 11:50 AM

In today's business news the top story in NJ is about how Trump's restructuring deal that could have potentially saved his AC casino empire has fallen through and is drowning in $1.8 billion of debt.

If Trump Resorts cannot come up with a way to restructure it's debt soon, it faces the prospect of a drawn-out bankruptcy reorganization.

Michael T Hudson 09-24-04 12:00 PM

I think it is funny when Trump talks about what he has accomplished but neglects the Casino problem. I told my wife last night I bet this is the last season.

tofu 09-24-04 12:01 PM

The commercials definitely seem to be making something out of nothing especially since this cast seems to be a bunch of nobodies.

Was it just me or did the crowds around the crest things seem really small? WHen they showed the aerial view over the women's team's stage, it looked like they were only 50 people.

Does anyone watch this show as an extension of business school?

I didn't watch the Apprentice last season, and I love it! It's such a disaster every week, it's great. Really goes to show you what kind of personality most business people have.

That's just self-serving Bradford bullshit. He got cocky, he wanted to impress Trump with his guts, and Trump called him on it. "Try to repair some of the divisions"? Get real...
