last comic standing 9/21

Though I would start the heads up on it because I have class tonite and will miss it. Plus, I didn't find a thread about last weeks here. All i say though is all you Dat Phan naysayers can suck it because his set, I thought, was by far the funniest. That is one man's opinion. Hefron did good, too.

I do think Dat Phan was pretty funny last week, so does that mean I don't have to suck it? I liked the gag about him carrying his girlfriend's screaming child through the mall.

Yeah that gag was awesome. Season one has a shot this week but I am not too sure who should go out. Not that great of sets.

I actually think Dat's act is MUCH improved from season 1. Then he overdid it with the stuff about his mom. Now he still does material based on his Asian perspective, but it's actually sometimes funny and not as obvious as the old stuff.

P.S. Has anyone here seen the movie Cellular? Dat has a small cameo in it.

Season 1 was actually funny last week. I will give props when due. I think they have a shot at the $50,000 this week.

Heffron and Pescatelli are coming to my town soon. I wonder if it would be worth it. I'm betting it would be a show full of stuff I have already heard.

Heard Kathleen Madigan on Bob and Tom yesterday. Hysterical. Much funnier than what she has done so far this year.

My brother saw Heffron when he came through St. Louis a few weeks ago - he said it was a pretty good show.

Carrot Top was pretty funny. I'm getting burnt out on all the contestants though. Last Comic Standing overload. I think it was too soon for another season.

I've always thought CT was funny, I think I'm one of the few people that enjoys prop comedy. Geez, was he buff! Definitely too freaking many comics in this season.

From Season 1, the funniest guy was the one who isn't Dat Phan or Ralphie May. Neither of those guys had a good set.

The best of S2 was John Heffron.

From House 1, you've still got:
Rich Vos
*Dave Mordal
Tess
*Dat Phan
*Ralphie May
Geoff Brown

From House 2, you've still got:
Todd Glass
*John Heffron
Gary Gulman
Alonzo Boden
*Jay London
*Kathleen Madigan

The ones with the asterisks performed tonight. They switched things up a bit, so that two people from each house will be eliminated next week (i.e. only the top vote getter for tonight moves on). The 3 from each house that didn't perform tonight will roast Jay Mohr next week.

Michael Corvin -- I would see Heffron/Pescatelli if I were you (and that reminds me -- I need to try to get tickets for when they come here). I saw Alonzo, Gary, and Jay London perform the other week, and all three did a lot of material that they haven't done on TV. Alonzo actually made a few jokes about how "They don't let me do this kind of shit on network TV."

It seemed to me Ralpie's stuff was more racist than comedy. I love all comedy, but his seemed forced or fake. They didnt seem like jokes but racial slurs that happened to be funny.

Hmmm

I never look at Carrot Top the way I used to. After his wonderfully insane and sickly funny commentary on The Rules of Attraction DVD, I know there is a crazy funny guy inside. Very Crazy.

When they announced the two "Guest" comedians, I thought that it may be Drew Carey, etc, due to their previous affiliation with the show (the "scandal" not withstanding), but when Louie Anderson and Carrot Top was announced, I knew that the joke was on us.

However, Carrot Top was head and shoulders above everyone else last night. I have always liked his bits, and I think that he lends himself to the criticism, to be more memorable.

So far, in every week, I was able to correctly pick who was going home. I think that staying this week will be Dat Phan and John Heffron. More than likely, there goes my streak.

I don't get the appeal of Jay London.. It's like an unfunny Steven Wright.. and Dat is always doing Asian stereotypical humor... I don't get how that plays to middle america

Poor Louie Anderson, a shell of what used to be a comedian. I think season 1 got the shaft on that deal. Up there recycling tired old jokes from other comedians. A shame really.

I actually enjoyed Ralphie's bit. Kinda edgy, but who can take him seriously with a voice like that?

Gotta go with Heffron again for the night.

I don't think that Louie will ever live down the whole blackmail thing against him that was in the tabloids a few years ago. That, along with getting the boot from Family Feud could not have been a good thing for him around the same time.

BTW, the best news from this show last night was the Triumph The Insult Comic Dog is going to be at the roast of Jay Mohr next week!

Either I am just tired or this doesn't make sense. To me, this reads that you are saying that Carrot Top gets criticism because you like his bits? Or because he's memorable? I am having a hard time figuring out what you meant, sorry.

And Family Feud was much better off without Louie Anderson, blackmail scandal or no blackmail scandal. He's been washed up for years. Now, I would buy his original comedy special he did for PBS back in the 80s. That stuff was comedy gold.

I can't wait for that! Triumph always has me rolling. They showed a second or two of him saying that "Conan would've been here, but he still has a shred of dignity."
