I don't even see that happening. They didn't burn off the unaired eps of Boston Public last season during the summer (or on F/X).

So this means you'll be boycotting FOX now as well?

Only 227 more channels to go.

Priestley Finds New FOX Calling on 'Quintuplets'

(Monday, October 25 10:13 AM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Once and future "Beverly Hills, 90210" star Jason Priestley's current FOX show "Tru Calling" may be in trouble, but the actor is sticking with the network that made him a star. Priestley has signed on for a guest starring appearance on FOX's comedy "Quintuplets."

Priestley will drop by for the Thanksgiving-themed episode of "Quintuplets" playing the brother of Andy Richter's Bob Chase, uncle to the show's titular five children. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Priestley's only on board for one episode, but the part is being written as a potential recurring character.

While best known as a dramatic TV lead, Priestley's previous comedy gigs included spots on "Spin City," "Grosse Pointe" and "8 Simple Rules," as well as self-mocking turns in a number of televion and film projects.

A solid performer in FOX's summer line-up, "Quintuplets" was picked up for a full season, though the show has struggled against fresh competition, averaging only 5.44 million viewers during the fall.

FOX picked up "Tru Calling," to which Priestley was a late addition, for a November launch, but recently reduced the show's order to only six episodes. Additionally, FOX pulled "Tru Calling" from its scheduled Thursday home and the network has yet to reveal its plans for a new premiere.

 Nah. I save boycotts for truly disgusting and loathsome behavior. While I'm unhappy with many networks and their decision-making, it's just business. While pissed off, it's nowhere near the level of what Sci-Fi (sic) did.

Besides, if I boycotted Fox, how would I see the greatest show in the history of the Universe ... House!

I hope you're right about House. I'm looking forward to it. I just hope, if deserved, the audiences find it and keep the ratings up!

Then again, on 10-24-04:

Joss said he is "salivating" to do a "Faith" spinoff series if Eliza Dushku wants to. Dushku, who played the angry slayer on "Buffy" and "Angel," recently said publicly she believed Fox had finally cancelled her most recent starring vehicle, "Tru Calling."
What I take from Joss' statement is that he doesn't have any new ideas for TV shows (like "Firefly") but would probably revisit the Slayerverse if given the opportunity.

re: Tru Calling getting cancelled

Great News!! The show sucked. It did get better once Priestley joined the cast though. But it didn't really look like it had much of a future.

Now, just get Giles, Wes, Gunn, & Gwen (Electro Girl) back and we can have some type of Buffy/Angel spin-off. It's what Dushku should've done in the first place.

I never understood why she picked this over Faith. -screwy-

I thought it had a great future after that season finale.

I'm glad to see that she wanted to do something different rather than do another slayer show.

Don't you know? It's the best medical drama since the first season of e.r.. He's like Sherlock Holmes with a stethoscope!!

Seriously, I don't know if it will be good or not. I just can't help mocking Fox's ceaseless promotion for the past 3 months. It's almost as bad as when 24 premiered but not quite. I do know it stars Lisa Edelstein, a Sorkin ex-babe I've always enjoyed, as well as Omar Epps. And of course House himself, the talented Hugh Laurie. That's about all I know, but all mockery aside, it looks promising.

Now tell me. What shows that are on now are better than Tru Calling was at the end of last season? :)

To be honest, the only show I watch now is Smallville. And I can't honestly say that it's better than what Tru Calling was.

Still can't believe Hugh Lurie played Mr. Little from the Stuart Little movies.

Smallville was better during it's first 2 seasons, but I really think it's jumped the shark, especially this season.

I saw a preview of the show last night. It was alright. Sort of had a CSI feel to it in showing the diagnosis. Hugh Laurie was great. It's worth a look, but I doubt I'll be watching since it'll on at the same time as "Veronica Mars", "Scrubs" and "The Amazing Race"

Lets just hope Tru Calling doesn't turn into another Dark Angel where season 2 screws up the whole show.

Chris

lets see
sopranos
deadwood
nip tuck
shield
alias (yes i said it)
lost

im amazed it that show was on the air for a complete season.

mrpayroll 10-26-04 03:08 PM

Well, I agree with Deadwood & Lost. Still haven't seen Alias S3 yet, soon will. Sopranos last season, well they really suffered quality wise. The other 2 I haven't seen.

But before Jason Priestley's character joined, I would have agreed. But his character opened up so many good vs. evil possibilities and now they won't be realized (at least not in 6 episodes). :)

Chris

Red Dog 10-26-04 03:22 PM

Tru Calling was a nice show at the end, but there are more than a handful of shows that I would put ahead of it in terms of quality....

Sopranos
Nip/Tuck
The Shield
Deadwood
American Dreams
The O.C.
NYPD Blue
Law & Order SVU
Without a Trace
Lost
Desperate Housewives
Entourage
Rescue Me
CSI

Now the better question is what does FOX have now or in the pipeline that is better than TC? The answer? Not much.

Of course, the only one of these currently on the air (in season) is Lost.
