Can't believe no one mentioned Millennium. One of the most haunting pieces I've heard, and perfect for the tone of the show.

My all time favorite is Angel. The music they used is absolutely brilliant, making it my favorite intro for a show ever, yes, even beating out Buffy...

Angel & Buffy are easily my all time favorite shows and theme songs, but Alias had the perfect theme for their show before they changed it. The remix sucked in comparison to the original theme song.

The 4400's song and opening credits are very good by themselves and fit the show great too. It's just about the only opening I don't even want to skip thru when watching a show on DVR/DVD.

I'll second Firefly and The Office (USA)

And I probably posted it the first time this thread was active, but since it's sitting on my DVR, the alternate theme used on Enterprise for the In a Mirror Darkly 2-parter is just too cool.

LOVE the ANGEL theme...the extended version apparently didn't impress very many, but I loved it - better than I thought it would have been when it was released.

DS9 - I've heard every version of McCarthy's theme at least several thousand times by now, and I still love it.

Actually, if you heard the entire song, it's definitely not sappy.

Lines like "You're little angel hung the cat up by it's tail, your therapist took off with your wife and didn't even write, third fiance didn't show, have no lights check is in the mail"

Cupid had a great theme song, "Human" by the pretenders that fit the show.

Monk--the tone and lyrics of the song just seem to fit the tone of the show and Monk's character.

The Bob Newhart Show--the jazzy horns, blending into the more mellow bridge, then back to the horns always seemed to me to fit the tone of the show--silly comedy with heart. The horns also seem to evoke Chicago, where the show is set.

All in the Family. Being performed solely by the main players made it even more so.

Also, I love the new BSG theme.
