I think it has promise. I do worry that the whole "look how stupid Joey is" schtick will get old fast unless the writers can find a way to give the show more angles than just that.

Did they set up the last joke properly? I remember Joey telling the story to Michael in the pilot I saw before this but I don't remember that scene in this one.

I thought it was very funny. Joey is a good character, and he fit well with his sister & nephew. Maybe one too many fake tit jokes. It started out well with Joey in the taxi telling the driver how he moved from NY to LA to continue his acting career, only to find he was in the wrong city. Perfect Joey.
The only weak part was Joey with his new agent. Stifler's mom was terrible in a bad character.

You named 3 of my all-time favorite comedies.

I liked the show, or what I saw of it. It wasn't amazing, but it does have quite a bit of promise and it was funny.
I need some help, though. My TIVO only taped thirty minutes, and apparently the show went another 5-10 minutes. Can someone fill me in on what happened (in invisible text, of course)? I really was hoping TIVO would have caught it.

Since I missed it, were there any differences other than the cast change?

Not bad at all. Love Drea and I think she has decent comic timing. Still think there could stand to be another character added to the mix for Joey to play off of. Could be the neighbor, I suppose, but if not it wouldn't be hard to add someone else. I can see character played by Stiffler's Mom getting old really fast, especially since she pales in comparison to Fraiser's semi-regular agent Bebe.

In the original pilot, we never find out what Alex does for a living but because of the recasting the writers were able to add more background for the character and make her a corporate lawyer. The Days Of Our Lives t-shirt joke is new as well. Nancy O'Dell has replaced Pat O'Brien for the Access Hollywood interview of the Nurses cast member. The lines about Joey getting sauce everywhere were added to the final scene.

Since it ran over, my TiVo stopped after Alex told Joey that she was going to the airport to pick-up her husband, and he said he didn't know she was married 'cause her ring was on her right hand and she opened her mouth to explain something and _______.
That's where it cut out.
Can anyone fill in the blank for me and tell me how the episode ended?
(BTW, from what I saw, I thought the show was quite funny. I hope it does well.)

I thought the episode got off to a great start with Joey in the cab, in the wrong city. Really enjoyed the newscaster interview. I thought it was slow between those high points. I realize it is a pilot, just hope it gets better.
That said, I think the potential is there for a funny show as Joey is so worldly-naive and Hollywood seems ripe to allow Joey to be very funny.
Will be watching next week.

Also, why must every sitcom have the forbidden love angle. It's been done a million times before. I guess Friends was basically based on that aspect most of its run so what should I expect.

Joey's still funny, but think the writers could make it better...liked it for the most part, but they have got to get better sets (you know, ones that don't blatantly look like sets, i.e. Joey's sister's apartment). And do two things immediately: recast the part of Joey's agent, and get rid of that terrible theme song! Other than that, a good first effort...

Does Drea really have all those tattoos in real life?
I don't really recall them from her role on The Sopranos but at least there they would have fit "Adriana's" character a bit better I feel.
On this show, those things all over her arms (and other locations) look hideous.
Anyway...
I thought the show was OK. Yup, that's about it.
It seemed to be formula, basic sitcom fare. Nothing groundbreaking or innovative here.
You will get your standard couple of laughs per episode, but nothing particularly memorable.
I don't think the show will have a long run or (if it does manage to hang on for a few seasons) hold up well.
I think it will become after not too many years one of those shows you will look back on, or possibly catch in a re-run that you will think to yourself with puzzlement: "Wow, I can't believe I used to actually sit still and watch that show."

I have seen some pictures of her in magazines and she has quite a few tats. I would assume they are all real.
