I've been watching a bunch of the Smallville episodes, and thought of a question.

I know I've heard of Lana Lang as being Clark's HS gf/best friend/something from his past in other Superman stories. In the other Superman universe's, did she know about Clark's abilities?

Last I remember, yes. But, Superman has been through all kinds of reboots. It's hard to tell anymore.

In current continuity, Lana found out the night Clark left Smallville to travel the world. Clark showed her by scooping her up and taking her for a flight. This actually drove a wedge between them for a while, because she was so sad and disappointed he didn't propose marriage to her(partly). She also realized that "Superman belong(ed) to the world," and couldn't ever do it.

Because I'm a Superman geek, I feel a need to chime in, even though it seems everything has been covered. (Even though, or perhaps because I'm a Superman geek, I don't watch Smallville. Gave it a try in its first two eps, but the idea that someone was gaining powers every episode because of kryptonite seemed to take away from Clark's feeling of isolation, which I think is key to the character, but I digress....)

Pre-1985, however, she didn't. He was Superboy, and she never knew though she suspected something was up. And she joined the Legion of Superheros as an honorary member as the Insect Queen, but that's another story....
