Anyone watch "Bo' Selecta!"?

Bo' Selecta! is a BBC comedy show that only airs in the UK, as far as I know. I found some episodes online and watched the region 2 dvds, and it's pretty hilarious stuff.

His Michael Jackson and David Blaine impressions crack me up.

Anyone else seen this show?

It's a bit one-jokeish, isn't it? I mean, it's funny in a sort of "Jackass"/train wreck way for a couple of episodes, but after a bit I realized it doesn't actually matter what they're supposed to be parodying. Which is the point, I guess -- it's meant to be just a series of crude impressions -- but 90% of the time there's not much in the way of actual jokes and we're supposed to laugh at the fact that he's running around in a terrible mask shouting and swearing with some unlikely accent, broken up by the occasional toilet gag. All of which is fitfully funny but not really a sustainable premise (I have no clue how they've stretched this out to three series). Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer were doing the "lousy impersonations" schtick a long time ago and they did it a lot better, really. Speaking of which Mortimer was apparently in a recent episode of BS so I guess I may want to check that out.

I do hear the show is more watchable if you're drunk or stoned, though, so I may be the wrong audience.

Dan-

I was in the same boat as you, but then I changed my aproach a bit. I was trying to find some deeper meaning to the comedy, then I watched it with my friend who likes broader comedy (he loved BS) and finally was able to appreciate it. Granted, I haven't watched enough of the series to really get sick of it yet. Plus, I don't know if I'll ever get sick of "Shamon, Muthaf***a!"

Season 3 has just finished over here in the UK, and sad to say it was not as good as the first 2 seasons. They gave Avid a talk show to do and it just didn't work. It also was a lot cruder then before, alot more swearing were it didn't need it.
I own season 1+2 on DVD, they have some good deleted scenes and out takes. The show runs over her at the same time as "Big Brother" and alot of the jokes in season 1 and 2 were based on that and this year they didn't bother, shame they were usually the best laughs.
My favourites are Micheal Jackass, David Blaine (shazam!) and Mel b.
If anyone as seen the "cribs" takeoff on Bo Selecta were Mel B shows you her apartment you will know what I mean ( "Theres a house brick, you never know when you will need one","Bannisters!")
