Just a few thoughts:

I'd love to see Rich Man, Poor Man. I remember hearing about it when they aired in on what was once The Family Channel. North and South and several others were also shown on that channel as part of their Novel For Television series.

Warner Brothers did a good job in the packaging and transfer of The Thorn Birds, so I'm hoping North and South won't disappoint either. Plus, The Thorn Birds was very affordable. I am very much looking forward to the N&S release in early October.

My dad bought Lonesome Dove some time back and the quality of the transfer (at least in the first few minutes) was really grainy and rough. It would be nice if they cleaned it up one day.

Does anyone remember the miniseries Poor Little Rich Girl about Barbara Hutton, the Woolworth heiress? Farah Fawcett was the lead, and I always liked it. I'm not sure if it aged well, but I enjoyed it back then. I think it came out in 1987 and I believe it was in 2 maybe 3 parts. I wish it were available on dvd.

Farah Fawcett was also in the miniseries Small Sacrifices, a true story about a woman who murdered her children. I always thought that one was good too.

I'm not sure about which network these two aired on. I'm thinking at least NBC for the first one.

The first I ever saw was NBCs "The Captains and the Kings" from 1976, although it may have aired a year or three later in the UK. It was quite a big deal back then but, even as a callow youth, once I had seen a couple of these I knew there was little need to spend time watching many more. "Roots" was good, though, and another milestone.
