It's one thing to be a freakin' idiot, it's quite another to be such a hostile one and to attack anyone who dare call you out on your absurd statements.

Red Dog 08-02-04 06:03 PM

Aaaaarrgh! Stop the madness!

lisadoris 08-02-04 06:37 PM

Today was particularly painful. I think I'll stick to I, Max until Wilbon and Kornheiser return.

when do they come back? I was all excited to watch Wilbon talk about Nomar and Tony talk about Larry Brown... I was so disappointed when they had Skip and Stephen on

Red Dog 08-03-04 07:59 AM

I expect that this is a 2 or 3-week vacation for them but I also expected that they would shuffle guest hosts. Plus I had to figure that tons of people must have mailed them on how horrible these guys are.

Meatpants 08-03-04 11:12 AM

I didn't mind Skip Bayless when he was writing here in Chicago, but man is he insufferable on PTI.

And I never minded SAS, but now that it seems ESPN has chosen him over David Aldridge, I will forever carry a grudge.

kantonburg 08-03-04 11:40 AM

My thing is when I heard Aldrige talk about basketball it made sense. When SAS says ANYTHING I just leave scratching my head.

MrX 08-03-04 04:55 PM

Dear god these two are awful. You'd think since they spend the whole show screaming one of them would lose their voice.

das Monkey 08-03-04 05:11 PM

This is really becoming painful. It's like watching the most recent season of The West Wing with the added benefit of nausea and a headache.

Lee Harvey Oswald 08-03-04 05:52 PM

I started to watch Monday thinking Wilbon and Tony would be back. I wanted to hear what Wilbon thought about Nomar coming to Chicago. They lead off with Nomar and immediately Steven A Smith started screaming something incoherant. I had no choice but to hit the stop button on my vcr.

And whats up with the 'A' in Steven A Smith.

Even though I could care less about the NBA I never minded listening to Alridge.

Buck Turgidson 08-03-04 11:51 PM

Crackhead Bill Rhoden would be worse.

Meatpants 08-04-04 08:57 AM

I wonder why they're not rotating guest hosts. It's not like Bayless and SAS are building up any momentum here. Is Norman Chad buried under a stack of poker chips or something?

Yesterday's Five Good Minutes with Bayless, SAS, and Teddy Atlas was excruciating.

j123vt_99 08-04-04 09:12 AM

can only assume the A stands for a**h0le

i never thought i would prefer to skip PTI but that is what this has come to. damn the olympics! because of the we are stuck with these two morons. actually, i could handle SAS, but i HATE!!!!!! skip bayless. he is so awful words cannot begin to describe it.

Duran 08-05-04 11:39 AM

Yep, they are about one episode away from getting PTI's Season Pass revoked.

B.A. 08-05-04 12:01 PM

I just found out that Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless were the guests hosts for this show (obviously I don't have ESPN and haven't read this thread).

How could ESPN not find anyone else on the planet besides these two asshats to host this show?

Your welcome.

Thank you - that may have made my day.

I am saddened that ESPN is replacing Aldridge w/ Smith. That's truly pathetic. It's like ESPN saying, "Hey, we aren't going to renew your contract AND to make it even worse we will replace you w/ someone who has a severe mental handicap. And on your way out, don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya."

ESPN has been heading downhill for a loooong time now. They've become the MTV of sports--less about sports and more about trying to entertain people, specifically the 18-34 demographic that I've grown to detest (despite being part of it). They keep hiring "sportscasters" with little knowledge and pass them off as walking one-liners. I thought the Rush Limbaugh debacle might have convinced them otherwise, but then they hardly took any blame for that.

Honestly, do you think if Chris Berman, Peter Gammons, or Chris Mortensen were applying to work at ESPN today, that they would be hired? Most likely not.

kenage 08-05-04 03:37 PM

Well I think you can toss out Berman with the rest of the new crew. Berman might have been the man some time ago, but that time has passed and his act is old. I cringe anytime I now see him on any ESPN show.

MFRONE 08-05-04 06:08 PM

Bayless said today that Mark Mulder won't win the Cy Young Award because he doesn't have an image like Roger Clemens. I guess he doesn't realize that there are 2 awards given. This idiots need to get off the TV screen.

RMSpuhler 08-05-04 08:19 PM

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Smith over Aldridge, along with ESPN looking to find new ways to suck, is a cost-cutting move. With DA, ESPN was picking up his full contract. I can't imagine they have to pay the same amount to Smith, who is still a writer first.

Anyway, PTI sucks without Tony and Michael. It doubly sucks with these two jackasses.

RS

Boot 08-05-04 11:46 PM

God, make them stop! It's amazing how great this show is with Tony and Michael and how terrible it is with anyone else, particularly these two morons.
