I agree with all this. Wildboyz is more in line with the stuff I used to like about Jackass. I guess I enjoy watching people abuse themselves more than abusing others.

That's pretty much how I feel now. I loved the show in the first season or two cause it seemed to have a level of realism to it. Now, it seems completely rigged, I mean come on, Don Vito cannot be that big of a moron all the time.

Did anyone see the episode in season 2 where they shoot a boat's cannon at a beer stand on an island? You could tell they couldn't hit it so they used CGI to make it look like the beer stand exploded. That made me lose a lot of respect for the show. They need to realize that genuine reactions are what made CKY and Jackass funny.

I know exactly what you mean. I still enjoy the show and own both the sets released so far on DVD, but at that moment a lot of the luster for the show rubbed off for me. I realize it's about 100 percent staged, but I still enjoy the hell out of it. I just like to sit back for some mindless television and it's hard to beat episodes like the one at the Mall of America (maybe as a Minnesotan I'm biased ) or the "war" between them and Knoxville, with (what the hell??!?!?) Sean Penn watching from the sidelines.

I do not like Viva La Bam, said Sam I Am.

I also don't like WildBoyz, and very little of Jackass.

What did they do at the Mall of America (I ask while typing this just down the road from it)?

The only really good one this season was the one where Knoxville shows up and they go at it.
Wildboyz is WAAY better IMO.

Bam made a some $ from the original CKY videos (4 of them I think). He got paid from skate boarding and doing endorcement deals for Element.

However, if you watch the earlier CKY films - he lives in a small house (next to a sewer treatment plant (I read that in a Time)). He had a nice car - Audi A4. Jackass the TV series and Movie used a lot of the clips from CKY. I'm guessing that is how he got some extra $.

By the time CKY 4 rolled around he had a Ferarri - and was able to move his family into one of those Mc Mansions in the town he lived in.

His parents know that Bam is their meal ticket. MTV pays for everything they destroy or buy. Rumor has it that MTV bought that new house he lives in now - Sort of like paying to build a movie set.

I'm no Bam expert - But I did collect the CKY movies when they were underground VHS tapes.

I used to really like this show, but I agree it has become way too fake and staged. It feels like watching SNL or any other skit show now.

fake/staged vs reality......who cares? it's entertainment to me. I love this show, it keeps me laughing....and i'm not a typical teen who thinks it's cool to terrorize parents. I just turned 40 and i see the humor in it all. Those guys are idiots, but they do much of the stuff i was too afraid of doing when i was younger.

I agree, I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons.....but the fourth one had an entirely different vibe (it felt like we were seeing take 4 of many of the conversations), and I really didn't care for it anymore. I am not even bothering to watch the fifth season which i think is on now. Sure, the first three series probably had many scenarios that were heavily planned and set up, but the dialogue and reactions for the most part felt genuine......they just don't anymore.

Seeing the Margera family cars and homes get destroyed has just lost some of its initial fun and luster. They all seem rich and MTV will just buy them more, so what is the point?

Bam's stepdad "Phil"? is on that Celebrity Lose weight show on VH1. I always thought he was a down to Earth laidback guy to be putting up with Bam's stupid shit but he seems even moreso on the VH1 show. He seems really cool

In fact, both Phil and bam's Mom seem like really nice people. Too bad they have to deal with Bam's stupid ass. But like I said, I hope they're pulling down a fat check for it.

Phil is Bam's biological father. He's such a nice guy, because he's not a celebrity. Prior to being paid for Viva La Bam, he was a cake decorator at a local Acme supermarket.

Bam's problem is just too much, too soon. I live in West Chester, PA where the CKY and majority of Jackass videos were filmed and Bam grew up (he now lives in the nearby town, Glen Mills since West Chester kicked him out). He is such a big deal around here it's ridiculous. All the 8 year olds at the local skater store want to be him and try to emulate everything about him. This guy doesn't deserve this level of fame, he sucks.

I've run into him about 3 or 4 times; most recently I saw him and his new girlfriend leaving the VIP area at Live 8. And everytime I've tried calling out to him he acts like a big shot Hollywood guy. He's totally unaccessible and self-absorbed.

Yeah, I agree with the thoughts on the current season. I haven't seen much of it and tried to watch the last couple episodes and just hated them. Then again, like I said earlier, I was kinda turned off a couple seasons ago with the fake cannon shot into the "tikki bar." I have the first two DVD sets, but I'm starting to think I might sell them off (moreso the first season than the second set because about the only episode I really loved from the first season was the scavenger hunt.)

I kinda enjoyed the "Vito Revenge" when Don Vito and Mike Valleley teamed up in a prank war against team CKY! But other than that, I am getting pretty bored with the show!

Did Viva La Bam get cancelled?

I haven't heard anything about the next season. Haven't even seen reruns on recently. Did it get cancelled?

Yes. The series ended in August. I don't know if MTV cancelled it (I can't see why, it got decent ratings) or if Bam decided to end it on his own.

The re-runs are usually on Mtv2... My DVR picks up a minimum of 5 a night... Usually in the 2-3am area...
