John and Jill were a cool couple, probably one of my favourites of all the seasons I have seen.

I only missed the 1st half of S1.

and people are looking for a ridiculous 40 dollars for copies of it

That was a hilarious interview. The look in his eyes when he said that ws hilarious.

I liked them, too. How in the hell did I think John's name was Don Vito? wtf? :hscratch:

So it was John Vito - I could have sworn that I wasn't making the Vito part up.

Easy to see where the term 'ugly American' comes from.

LOL, very true.

Although I find Alison and Donny annoying like the rest of you, they have to be one of the most interesting team in the show. Pure entertainment. Don't want them to win but hopefully they be there till the end.

Don't have any favorite teams right now but hope that the Internet couple can go far since they seem to be the only one that are actually thinking before doing anything. However, as some of you mentioned, don't think they have the physical abilities to compete but we'll see.

Remember that time when the Guidos used the fast forward and still came in last place. Fortunately for them, it was not an elimination leg.

Team Dwarf is annoying as hell... I am pulling for Colin / Christie.

Mmm... Jill of TAR4

the_dude8 07-08-04 07:40 PM

Charla and mirma aka know as team little ppl or team hobbits

Tar 6 will be on Saturday nights in the Fall.

It was listed on CBS's Fall Shows.

Actually, it was an elimination leg. What saved the Guidos was mother/daughter team Nancy & Emily giving up & not completing the Detour. As a result, they were assessed a 24-hour time penalty, which eliminated them from the race.

Another time the Fast Forward didn't help was in TAR3. Father/son team Dennis & Andrew had a terrible time flying from Mexico to London. Even though they used the FF once they got to England, they still came in last place & were eliminated.

In the past, there has been a Fast Forward available in the first leg. (Rob & Brennan used it in TAR1, Ken & Gerard used it in TAR3, and Monica & Sheree used it in TAR4). They just don't mention it if no one uses it in the leg.

And they've never had a Roadblock on the first leg of any race.

taa455 07-08-04 11:57 PM

Skorp-

You are so right. All I remembered was the Guidos arriving last to the pitstop, but somehow they stayed in the race. I just assumed it was a NE point. Those Guidos -ohbfrank- were a couple of screwups. I was amazed they made it as far as they did. I remember them getting a call in Alaska to inform them the race was over!

I just d/l'ed the ep today, cause i watched BB5 and had to tweak my system getting ready for the bb5 live feeds.

But my god, I can't believe u guys didn't pick up on this. Allison (from bb4) made one of the top 3 dumbest comments in reality television, this ranks up there with the best of them. Just like last years BB4, the dumb 18 year old blonde talking about how somebody has changed, she said he's done a whole 360 degree in her mind.

But how ironic is this, they were fighting earlier in the ep, then later in the cab, she yelled at him then said " i'm definately the brain and your the bronze" Hehehe, it's brawn, not bronze, but from bb4 we all knew she was an idiot anyways.

I had the luxury of rewinding it, and it's 100% clear, but if u if u wanna check that ironic statement out, it's on sat. at 8 EST.

BDB 07-09-04 06:43 AM

I guess never having seen BB, I am not as annoyed as the rest of you for having allison there. the concept of celeb players does not appeal to me.

I think they need to stop with the models as well.

IIRC, didn't she say the same exact thing during BB4. I think it was her.

I usually never watch much reality programming, but this is easily my favorite of those I do. :)

Agree on your comments.

I hate reality tv as well, but love AR. I guess I like it because its not typical reality tv. To win, you actually have to compete and win. Its not just a popularity contest like BB or Survivor. And those stupid who wants to marry..., the bachelor/bachelorette, average joe, etc.

But let me know take the thread in a tangent.

I really don't care for Team Dwarf. They get on my nerves and everything they said was basically "I'm going to show everyone that little people can do anything they can."

This season doesn't really have a very likable team like the last. From the beginning, I really like Team Clown from AR4. Team Mario & Luigi might be okay, but so far I don't like them. They were whining too much at the airport when that one team was getting tickets for others. While technically not illegal, it is a dirty thing to do. But, if they had watched past seasons, they would have seen other teams do it as well. Stop complaining about it and move on.

Team Internet Couple seem nice, but I too can't see them lasting too long with all those younger teams. Same goes with Team Major and Daughter. His knee is going to cause problems eventually. 25 stictches and coming close to damaging a tendon isnt just a scratch. I'm sure the airline people loved letting a guy with bloddy pants on the flight. Bet othre passengers got worried.

Chip and Kim, I think that was the african-american couple seem really likeable, but they need to read and pay attention if they want to survive.

Team God... I cringed when he kept going on about god this and god that...

Overall a nice start to the season. I'm waiting for someone to use the Yield. It seems like it would be a devatstating thing to use.

Imagine a group of 6 teams coming up to it. The team that is in 2nd place uses it and causes the team in first place to wait while 5 others pass them and potentially the rest of the teams and are then elimiated.

Could be quite an upset in the works when it is used.
Though I supposed you'd have to know what teams are ahead of you so you don't pick one of the last place teams and waste it.

You can only use the "Yield" on a team that is behind you.

I do not believe that is how it works. You can only use it on a team that has not yet reached the Yield point.

Canis Firebrand 07-09-04 08:41 AM

Ahh.. I misunderstood the explanation then. I thought you could pick any team.

Seems kind of stupid to only let you use it on a team behind you. The point, I would think, would be to make a team in front of you be held up, provided they haven't already reached the pitstop.

Though I suppose that if a team is close behind you and you think they might catch up and pass you, then you would want to make them wait at the Yield so you can gain more ground.

Still, will be interesting to see one used.

How could you use it on a team in front of you? How would they know about it. It is all based on coming to the Yield point and seeing your picture on the board.

BDB 07-09-04 09:31 AM

Yup I think it's really only going to work if there are 2 or 3 teams in a run for a task, and they want to gain some momentum.

It's probably really only used as a tool to create drama.

Or perhaps as a tactic to elminate a team. Knowing that team 4, if given a yield, would most likely be last, and you are team 3 and know team 4 is normally a strong team that may kick your butt. But that would require some good estimation of how far back the last team is.

There is little reason to send a team from 4th to 8th if there are 10 teams playing.. or maybe for just the cumulative time difference, but there are so many "catch up" times, that seems to not be something to count on.

It will be interesting to see how it's used... I am wondering if it's going to be more of an attacking or vindictive tool.

THinking about it, I wonder if that is the idea. Perhaps the producers decided more hate would be a better show. I think we have already seen that, for the first episode, there certainly was more team-to-team issues, including physical ones. And they seemed to at least edit it in to seem more like turmoil was going to be the name of the game.

Instead of a positive thing where you could fast forward, now we have something you can hurt someone else.

Will the other team know who did it? I guess if you were team 2 you would know. Or perhaps it will be obvious? Or will it be out in the open? And then is there payback?
