But we can still cringe at "Stoppo", right? :D
Can't wait when they get to other countries where spanish isn't spoken. |
Ratings were pretty good:
http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve...1,1002,272_617|89215|1|,00.html Reality Premieres Score For CBS Fast National ratings for Tuesday, July 6, 2004. Apparently viewers were ready to check into the "Big Brother" house and take an "Amazing Race," because CBS was able to draw consistently solid numbers for both 90-minute season premieres. Overall, CBS averaged a 6.3 rating/11 share for the night, far better than the 5.3/9 for second place NBC. ABC was at 4.0/9, leaving FOX in fourth with a 2.7/5. Among the netlets, The WB did a 1.8/3 to edge the 1.5/3 for UPN. CBS also won among adults 18-49, earning a 4.0 rating in the important demographic. ABC was second with a 3.4 rating, better than the 2.2 for ABC or FOX's 1.8 rating. The WB had a 1.1 for the night, more than UPN's 0.8 rating. The first hour of "Big Brother 5" did a 6.2/11 for CBS. ABC and NBC tied as a repeat of "Last Comic Standing" and episodes of "8 Simple Rules" and "I'm With Her" both averaged a 3.8/7 for the hour. FOX was in fourth with "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Method & Red." UPN was fifth with "All of Us" and "Eve" averaging a 1.6/3 to top "The Gilmore Girls" on The WB. At 9 p.m., the last half-hour of "Big Brother 5" and the first half-hour of "Amazing Race" averaged a 6.4/11 for CBS. NBC was second with the 5.2/9 for a new "Last Comic Standing." ABC was third with "According to Jim" and "Less than Perfect," which beat the 2.7/4 averaged by a second hour of "Bernie Mac" and "Method & Red" on FOX. The WB got a 2.1/4 from "Summerland" and took fifth over UPN's "American's Next Top Model" encore. NBC grabbed the night's final hour with a 7.1/12 for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." The last hour of "Amazing Race" remained solid on CBS, taking a 6.5/11. On ABC, "NYPD 24/7" did a 4.6/8. |
Just finished watching it. Pretty good so far. Too early to tell who I like/don't like at this point.
|
So, the next episode will be next Monday at 8:30 CDT, or 9:00 CDT? Also, I'll probably be away from a TV on Monday, are there reruns throughout the week on CBS? If so, when?

None of them know how to carry 50lbs of beef. I would have slung it over my shoulder (sort of wore it). how many lbs are the backpack that they are carrying; they must weight 50lbs -70lbs. and running around with those on your back is not fun. |
I too was not very pleased when I heard that Allison and Co were going to be on the Race, but she and her boy-slave gave a good show yesterday.
Donny: "Maybe we'll have to take a boat?" Allison: " A ferry IS a boat". Instant classic ! As long as she doesn't win, I'll be happy! |
I haven't read the thread yet, but my initial thoughts are:
Donny is a retard for staying w/ that bitch. Team Dwarf is already getting on my nerves. |
LOL, Donny is Allison's bitch... ok, you already got that. Maybe man whore would be more fitting.
I'm putting my money on Team Jesus, 'cause the chick's HOT! |
Originally posted by djbrown And that one team is totally Flo/Zach2. He's got the moppy hair and she whines all the time. - I liked how at the start of the show, Mirna was yelling at Charla all the time to hurry up (hello, she's a small person, she has kind of a speed limit), and then when it got to the meat challenge, Charla was the one fifteen yards ahead carrying all of the gear telling meaty Mirna to move it along. - The Bowling Moms were my pick to go first, but they really surprised me. - I'm not sure if I like the fact that the first plane/bus/whatever that leaves a city will not necessarily be the first whatever to arrive at the next city. It seems like it adds more of a chance element to the game, but I guess it's not that hard to just ASK when the flights arrive like one of the teams did. - I can't WAIT to see someone use a Yield. - What's up with all the Texans and all the falling down? - I think the soccer twins have red-yellow color blindness, if such a thing exists. Too bad sign-ups for TAR6 are already closed. Hope there's a TAR7! |
Good lord this show is fantastic.
I love it. It's my absolute favourite show on TV. Charla can't run at all, it was hilarious watching her, the producers must be laughing there asses off |

• SunMonkey • I thought I read there was a team with someone from Survivor, too. :hscratch: das |
Okay, now that I've read through the thread, I am still not sure about which team I like. I know I don't like the 1st Loser from Big Brother and her dip-shit boyfriend. And Team Dwarf were more annoying than they were entertaining - now if they were mute they would be much, much, much more tolerable.
The only two that they showed carrying the side of beef over their shoulders (that I remember) were Old Man River and Father Time. A few of the others might have but they really didn't show the stragglers except when they went into the walk-in freezer. I wanted to root for the twins, but they need to slow their asses down and take in their surroundings already - at the same time they need to learn to read and comprehend what the clues are saying. I kind of like the Father/Daughter duo, but she seemed like a bit of a bitch, but maybe that was her competitive spirit coming out so that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Christie is hot and the only thing Colin did that was retarded was starting off the show by saying that "he may be the most intense person to ever play this game". Just shut up and show your moxie. I liked the team that lost, but they made a stooooooooopid mistake by giving up that cab so easily. Chip and his wife seem like they might be entertaining, but apparently they can't read directions either. I might have rooted for the models, but then he mentioned about giving the Race to God. I'm religious, but give me a break - God doesn't give two shits about The Amazing Race. It's just like he doesn't give a shit about the NFL, MLB, NBA, etc., etc. I like the Bowling Moms, but I don't see them lasting longer than half the race. However - I would like to see them prove me wrong. And the old couple is cute, but they won't have the endurance for this - they are going to get chewed up and spit out by the halfway point. |
Team Dwarf and Team Twins: both immediately on my "super-annoying" list.
I can see that military dad's knee giving him problems throughout the race. I usually never watch much reality programming, but this is easily my favorite of those I do. :) |

So I guess the fast forward was replaced with the Yield?
I dig the Yield, but I really liked the fast forward, especially since to get to the FF, you had to do some other challenge. I don't remember the show explaining a FF, or even reading about it in this thread. |
No fast forward? That stinks.
|
I'm not sure they ever have a fast forward in the first episode. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but it could just be that they will explain it when it happens. No Roadblocks either in the first episode so they didn't explain that either.
|
That's true, I didn't even think of it, since I've become used to having a FF. It was just that the Yield threw me off and I assumed that it replaced the FF.

I was wondering about the FF too. They never even mentioned it. I figured that couple with the stupid nice guy would have used it.
|
There still is a fast forward, but it's never mentioned unless it's either used or discussed. From the 7/8 NY Post review:
"While the usual 'route markers,' 'detours,' and 'fast forwards,' are included, this season, there is also a 'yield' at each leg, where one team can elect another team to sit out the race for a set amount of time." Sorry, no link. I copied it directly from the paper. |
The best fast forward ever was the couple (Don Vito and Jill ?) from two seasons ago eating that block of cheese in Switzerland to get the clue.
