Observations from the first 10 minutes:
Having Couture and Liddell as the coaches-
Having a bunch of white boys and no one from the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu contingent-
Going with the whole "reality" formula having all the guys living in one house- can go either way. But if these guys keep drinking like they are now, I doubt the best brawls will be in the ring.
The little red headed guy is a wannabe Tito Ortiz.

Might as well call it Really Tough Enough.

Good show so far...I loved it when Chuck and Randy were telling the red headed stepchild to get some water, and lay off the beer.

Decent episode tonight, too much reality game-show crap and not enough fighting though. I thought these guys were going to be eliminated by getting their asses kicked in the ring, not carrying people around in La-z-boy chairs.

I liked this show better when it was called Tough Enough. Why not steal the rest of the formula and have Royce Gracie come in and talk to the fighters about the sacrifices that come with being on the road and how you have to 'really want it(tm)' to make it in this business.

Well I finally got my wish. This show has gotten a little better, now that they decided to actually include fights in the show. Who woulda thought?

I know one of the guys who's on this UFC reality show. I went to school with Forest Griffin. Actually sat with him at lunch and he's pretty crazy, but a good guy. Saw him a couple of months ago at a local sports bar here. I found out he was on the show from one of his good friends. It's kinda weird seeing him on TV now. Hopefully he does well.

If you are curious, there is a large portion of the mma community that belive Forrest Griffen is good enought that he should already be in the UFC, with out having to be on the show.
He has already beaten 3 guys that have fought in the UFC, and that win over Braga is very impressive.

Just giving this thread a bump since the finale just aired on Spike, and included one of the best MMA matches I've ever seen. If you haven't seen the replay on Spike make sure to catch it. If you want to discuss the fights there is a thread in the Sports forum.

Yep. I caught this on and off during the weekly showings but caught the finale. That second to last fight was just crazy! Those two really didn't want to give up. The ironic thing is, neither of them would have gotten a contract if it were not for the other. If one of them gave in and the other had won, there would have only been one contract offered. Those two have really strong will power.
Diego Sanchez is either really lucky or is very good at maneuvering.
I am unwilling to pay for the PPV UFC fight, but I'm thinking it will be amazing as well.

Based on this thread I'm recording tonight's repeat of the finale to watch later, even though I haven't seen any other episodes, so thanks for the comments.

It's starting now for anyone that's interested, although the big fight (the second of three) won't start until around 12:20.

dude, I only had the first however many episodes of that UFC thing in on int he background, this finale was incredible, I had to get up real early for work but still checked it out, I was amazed!!
Wow, those two light heavy weight guys fuckin rocked!!
They NEED to turn this ultimate fighter thing into a year round show!!
And it worked because it had real storylines, unlike most UFC stuff, where its just two really good guys fighting, this had a background that ruled!!
too bad Shamrock was the main eventer, talk about a let down!

I'm happy that Forest made it. That fight was incredible. My heart was thumping in my chest because I couldn't figure out who was winning. I guess I won't be seeing him around anymore, here in Augusta, now that he's in the UFC.

I got around to watching the final episode, and I was not disappointed. THe two light-heavies were really wailing. They also had great personalities before and after. Very smart move by the UFC to sign both. Both other fights were pretty so-so. I will say I was glad to be watching on DVR, since it was a 2 hour 35 minute show, with about 23 minutes of actual fighting.

Wow...
Wow...
I had my doubts about this show for the first few episodes (until they started the weekly elimination fights). A friend of mine quit watching it after the first episode or two and it took a hell of a lot of convincing to get him watching it after the show improved.
I do wish that they had shown more of the guys working out (drills, etc) instead of focusing so much on the "character development" and "physical challenges". Can't have everything I guess.
Hopefully, they will contuinue to show all of the elimination fights in their entirety (sp?) for season two. I really enjoyed seeing all of the fight, unlike in The Contender.
I don't know if it was the editing or what, but the guys who got beat, yet made it back (or almost made it back) seemed to be a little calmer and not so apt to trash talk. I wonder how much of the fighter's personalities were created by the editing process? Anybody have any thoughts on this?
That Griffin v. Bonnar fight was one of the best if not the best fight of any kind I have ever seen! Incredible willpower on both sides. Good quality violence too. Man, am I glad I taped it!! I have rewatched it a couple times already & it still has a lot of impact (pun intended).
The thing that really impressed me was their attitude afterwards. Both had pretty humble attitudes and complemented each other a lot. No 'sore loser' crap or trash talking judges/opponent or "I am the baddest bad $$$ in the world!!" kind of garbage. I thought that kind of courteous attitude was completely extinct nowadays..how awesome to see it still lives.
I wonder how long it will be before they schedule the rematch.
"I can pawn this for a lot!!!" --- priceless!!
