Yes, he really did say that. Alex, out of questions to ask, said "Ken, tell us, what's your deepest and darkest secret?" Ken pondered for a minute, then responded "Hmm... Well, you know, I did kill a man down South once, Alex."

That wasn't the exact wording, but captures the gist of it a little better. Ken certainly proved to remain half-way entertaining after more than 30 of those boring Q&A sessions. With any luck they'll come back to it on Monday and expand on the joke.

So how'd he do this evening?

Spoiler:
He won again. Don't remember the total, but he had everyone more than doubled going into final Jeopardy again.

movieking 07-19-04 07:45 PM

Yeah, sorry I forgot to post my semi regular update:

Spoiler:
He won again, winning $35,000 I think (not sure on the amount).

JPRaup 07-19-04 09:00 PM

Spoiler:
$1,100,460 total

Tsar Chasm 07-19-04 10:40 PM

Spoiler:
actually, $1,135,460 total

FuzzyBallz 07-19-04 11:13 PM

One of these days, Alex will walk up to Ken and choke him to death on national TV... unfortunately, they'll probably cut that part out.

Tony Dvdfan 07-19-04 11:22 PM

I'm curious as to how long he has been playing....i figure they film more than one show a day, but he's probably been there several weeks. Doesn't this guy want to go home, maybe that he has enough $$ by now?

JPRaup 07-19-04 11:54 PM

his brain will shit down eventually

I've read that if they decide to not air your show (technical problems or something), they don'y pay you. It'd be funny if one of the contestants gets pissed off losing Ken, so during Final Jepardy instead of an answer he writes "Down With The Jews!" or "Ken=Teh Gay" to see if they scrap that episode.

Same thing for The Price is Right.

Decker 07-20-04 01:02 AM

During the streak, has he ever had less than double his next opponent (requiring a correct answer on FJ to win)?

And BTW I was very disappointed I didn't get to hear the rest of the "kiiled a man Down South" story.

Yes, there was one time where one of his opponents was within $5000 of him at the end of Double Jeopardy, I think they were both over $20,000. On Final Jeopardy, the opponent got it right and bet $13,000 or so, but Ken got it right as well and bet $20,000 to win it.

Red Dog 07-20-04 08:55 AM

Well if anyone was waiting for the easy question episode to see if leveling the field would lead to Ken's demise, last night's was the one. I knew about 80% of those questions last night.

Of course, then they throw in Opera in FJ to balance it all out. I actually knew that Rossini composed The William Tell Overture (before I saw his name later in the question). Of course, knowing what language it was composed in......

wmansir 07-20-04 09:19 AM

The highest cumulative amount won by a single JEOPARDY! player is $1,155,102 in cash, received by Brad Rutter of Lancaster, PA in 2001-2002.
One more win and Ken should have it.

Of course, Brad Rutter got the vast majority of that from a million dollar special event and tournament of champions, Ken has already blown away the regular game play take.

For some reason I cracked up when he said, "the munchies, man!". I rooted for him when I first started watching, then I wanted him to lose, and now I want him to win again. I guess I've done a full circle.

Bacon 07-20-04 03:55 PM

He lost

Spoiler:
but not today

Ted The Bug 07-20-04 05:03 PM

7/20 result:

Spoiler:
He won again. He had $40,600 going into Final Jeopardy. He bet $11,400 and got it wrong, so he ended up winning $29,200. His 35-day total is $1,164,660.

Me and a friend were rotfl as well. It was hilarious.

Red Dog 07-20-04 07:07 PM

Spoiler:
I'm surprised that he got FJ wrong. I thought it was pretty easy. In fact, I always can't remember which is the largest African country btwn Algeria, Sudan, and Congo (Zaire). However, I knew that GMT went through Algeria and not the other 2 for this one.

mikehunt 07-20-04 11:33 PM

mikehunt 07-20-04 11:34 PM

Red Dog- You've got to try out for this show, you seem to be damn good at this! (I suck at it, unless there's a category for movies or TV!)

I'd never make it past the initial test. There are some days where I know a lot of the answers and some where I know few - just depends on the categories.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:13 PM.
