"With that 7.9 rating, the show was up 5 percent week-to-week and up 36 percent compared with the same period a year ago."

agreed, you either loved or hated this guy. Personally, I thought he was great entertainment.

On a side note, Scorcho, how's the hand? I want to see you hit another long ball and get back into the top 10,000 again on the home run list.

15-day DL, could possibly return in time for the playoffs in Sept. :(

I found him very entertaining, and he was someone that you could root for. Hope he continues to do well when the next season starts up.

It's gonna be weird without Ken on Jeopardy for a few weeks. I remember really getting into watching him like almost thirty episodes ago (a month and a half). Way to go Ken, and let's see how long he'll go.

and coincidentally down 36% until Ken's return.

Watch him get toasted on the first show of the new season.

I really think the Jeopardy producers are missing a huge opportunity by not showing "Ken's run" during this down time. They have people hooked, and many just heard about Ken recently. Spend the 6 weeks (30 shows) replaying his climb into the record books (38 wins so far) and you'll have even higher ratings in September.

Personally, I missed the first dozen or so appearances, only tuning in after this thread was posted. Since then, the show has been the first thing I watch on Tivo each night. I may tune in during the break occasionally, but I would definitely watch the first dozen appearances by Ken, and even re-watch the ones I've already seen to "catch" things that may be amusing now.

Spoiler:
'Jeopardy!' streak reportedly ends

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Has Ken Jennings ended his "Jeopardy!" streak?

A report posted Wednesday on TV Week's Web site said the brainy software engineer lost in a show taped Tuesday, walking away after his 75th straight game with about $2.5 million overall in cash and prizes. The magazine cited unidentified sources and said the show would air later this fall.

A spokesperson for the show told TV Week that it would not disclose whether Jennings lost.

Calls late Wednesday by The Associated Press to "Jeopardy!" publicist Jeff Ritter and to the show's production offices were not immediately returned.

Jennings, 30, of Salt Lake City, began his record-breaking run June 2, with a six-week hiatus for summer reruns.

After winning the show that aired Wednesday, his 41st, he had amassed $1,380,661.

To mark the start of its 20th season last September, the quiz show lifted its five-game limit for winners and allowed them to keep going until they lose.

A look at Jennings' streak, as of the show aired Wednesday:

Consecutive shows as winner: 41.

Money won on show aired Wednesday: $27,200.

Money won so far: $1,380,661.

Perspective: At the start of its 20th season last fall, "Jeopardy!" changed its longtime rule that said a champion must leave after five straight wins. Now a player stays until losing.

Competition: Jennings' two rivals never came close.

Biographical detail: Jennings revealed he is a lifelong, serious Etch A Sketch devotee.

Quote: Of the top eight single-day winners, "Ken has seven of the eight positions," said host Alex Trebek, "so he is a force to be reckoned with."

Final Jeopardy: "In the '20s, the alleged spirit powers of Margery caused a rift between these two men: a magician and a writer." Answer: Harry Houdini and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Jennings incorrectly guessed: "Houdini and Fitzgerald."
