I'm really looking forward to both FOX offerings tonight.

Groucho 06-14-04 02:51 PM

I'll be giving this a shot. What's the other Fox offering?

North Shore

Thanks for the reminder. I had meant to Tivo this, but I would have forgotten all about it.

I guy I work w/ stayed at The Golden Nugget a couple of months ago while they were filming this. He said the place looks/is great and it was packed the entire time he was out there. Supposedly, they had signs up warning customers about the taping of the show in a high-rollers area - he said people were turning around left and right so they wouldn't be on tv.

Exzavier00 06-14-04 08:46 PM

reality show?
I dont think so, it all seemed scripted
the frat guys were so cheesy
did they pay the gambler to go try to play and break the bank?
the whole show was BAD

wtf did they plant the 'lady in pink'
they had too
man this show sucks~!

John Spartan 06-14-04 08:47 PM

Could this be any more staged? Give me a break, man.

Red Dog 06-14-04 09:09 PM

Definitely staged but I was rotfl when that dealer told the big gambler that he gets off at 4 am. I don't if I can call it a reality show, but I was certainly entertained by it.

Exactly! I definitely will not give this show another viewing.

I had such high hopes, but this show was so scripted it was unwatchable. The previews for next week look no better, some swinging couple, and a couple that might not be up for it..

How did fox screw this up, you simply had to put a camera on a table, and show people drinking, gambling, and acting up like they norm do, and I would tune in every week..

Gallant Pig 06-14-04 09:21 PM

Slightly OT: Is The Restaurant scripted?

birdseye 06-14-04 09:51 PM

I didn't like it that much, like others have said, it felt a little too scripted. I got a little bored after a while, but I might watch next week to see if it gets any better, but my expectations aren't that high judging from the promo.

tofu 06-14-04 10:21 PM

Didn't like it. Everyone on the show except for the lounge singer seems like a prick. But I did laugh when the guy said that the lady in pink was a guy.

MrX 06-14-04 10:35 PM

I thought it was entertaining but obviously staged.

It seemed to be slightly scripted at times, but not even close to the trainwreck called The Casino. It was absolutely horrible. Yeah...umm...I'm gonna try and fly under the radar at the BJ tables - with CAMERAS following me.

Yeah...um...The Frat Pack...suuuure.

Worst reality show I've seen yet...yes...worse than The Simple Life.

Deftones 06-14-04 11:57 PM

wholly shit was that ever scripted. this is much worse than i thought it would be. i guess you can't do alot of the stuff like they did (follow around the frat guys) without being scripted, but it's just too much so.

Tygan 06-15-04 12:01 AM

Did anyone notice that 3 of the girls who were at the "Frat Pack" party were suddenly downstairs with Mr. "High Roller"?

If this was a true reality show....how would they know that the so called high roller was coming to the Nugget with the staff having no knowledge. I mean the cameras were at the airport when the guy arrived in Vegas...and the Nugget had no idea he was coming??

This show is an insult.

Yeah, I noticed that too

I thought it would be like the Restaurant which does not seem scripted

flashburn 06-15-04 07:11 AM

Haven't watched my recording yet, and after reading some of these comments, I don't think I am going to enjoy it. That is what I get when I think I will enjoy a 'reality' show.

This show is an insult.

More often than not, when a high roller returns to the same casino frequently, they know far in advance when he/she will be arriving. Big Chuck sure seemed to know everyone at each hotel he went to; he even has a vault at the Mirago! In scenarios such as this, a car is usually waiting at the airport to bring them where ever they want to go.

So I disagree- I found that part of the show VERY realistic.

Morf 06-15-04 08:07 AM

I think I'll stick with the Discovery channel's American Casino. That at least isn't scripted like this piece of garbage.

JasonF 06-15-04 08:26 AM

I don't want to say this was staged, but this is the most scripted show about Vegas currently on TV, surpassing Las Vegas and CSI.

"I'm going to play a little craps, then try to sneak over to the blackjack tables ... with a camera crew following me!."

Oh yeah ... and the lounge singer is a moron. Buy a vowel, dude -- you're a lounge singer, not an artiste.

That was what I was going to suggest to those who hated how staged this was. It really didn't bother me so much. I find it similar to Family Business in this respect.
