Wow, pretty sad that I was the last to comment on this subject over 3 months ago.

Since [Seth Green]'s heading back into the world of cartoon characters [with 'Family Guy'], will he also do the upcoming animated version of Buffy? "Nobody has even approached me," the 30-year-old sighs. "I don't know a thing about it, so I couldn't tell you."

I actually don't think Giselle Loren sounds much like Sarah Michelle Gellar at all, but I don't think it's a big deal. Of course, when I heard this announcement a year or so ago, all I thought was, "Great. More DVDs to buy."

The reason why Seth Green knows nothing about it is that his character will not be on the show. The cartoon will be set during the first year of Buffy which means that most of the characters will not have been introduced yet. The sole exception is Dawn who is retroactively included. Dawn will be around 13 and according to the pictures I have seen will be in pigtails.
Hope this helps.

I believe Austin54 might be right here, at least according to this Fanboy Planet interview. Of course, things could change...
Fanboy Planet: What's the take? Is this still a sort of retelling of the missing moments from their high school days, or will this be post-Angel?
Jeph Loeb: It's all Buffy Year One.
For the fans, we've always seen it as Episode 7.5. Buffy has met Angel. He's this brooding dark romantic character. She doesn't know yet about Angelus or any of that stuff. It's quite a lot of fun being able to tell stories that you know what will happen in the years to come!

I am going through Buffy withdrawls, even watching some of Season 6 so it will be nice to have something new from the Buffy/Angel Universe.
I think if they went too light in tone it would alienate the fan base that made it popular in the first place. If they go lite then why not just call it Buffy Babies.

I can't get to excited for this, for some reason.
I crossing my fingers for something live action. Buffy/Angelverse have too many good ideas and tangents they could follow, if David and SMG don't want to reprise (I can see SMG not doing it-7 seasons and the great finale episode said it all for her character, but why not David? A feature film of Angel could be what makes him a movie star.)

The animated series will take place during the first season, so Dawn would be around ten years old, and there would be no reason to include Oz in (at this point) because his character wasn't introduced until the second season, and he had no contact with the Scoobies up to that point. Same with Spike and Dru as well.
If the animated series would get picked up for more seasons, then maybe we'd get to see Spike, Dru, Oz, and Faith later on.
Going by Loeb's comments, I'm not really sure how they're going to fit this into the continuity of the regular series. If the animated series takes place between episodes 7 and 8, then Buffy would know about Angelus, as Angel explained that in episode 7.
My preference would be that the animated series mesh with the first season of BTVS. When an important episode took place, like "Welcome to Hellmouth," "Angel," or "Prophecy Girl," then that episode could be adapted to the animated series, and then told through Dawn's eyes. I wonder if they could adapt the origin story (ie, the movie) into the regular continuity?
Or if it goes to additional seasons (yeah, I know it hasn't been picked up yet) they could show things we didn't see, like what happened to Dru in Prague, or bring back characters like Jenny and Kendra that we'd like to see more of.

When/where is this going to be on??? I dont really care what the setting is, I just want the show continued in some fashion... It would if SMG was on it, but a substitute Buffy will be alright.

I just want to know if CC is willing to do the voice of Cordelia. Bitchy High School Cordy was my favorite version of her, and a series set in their sophomore year just wouldn't be the same without her.

It hasn't even been picked up yet. It's all very tentative right now, but probably more definite than, say, a year ago.

I think the only voice actors that are signed on to do the animated series so far are Nick, Aly, and Tony.
Sarah's definitely out, and Buffy will be voiced by the woman who doubled for her in one of the video games.
I'm not sure what they'll do about Cordie, but rumor seems to have it that Charisma and ME aren't on good terms, so I wouldn't be surprised to see someone else doing the voice.
