Is it just me, or did David Caruso NOT have the blue tint on him? I was laughing out loud when he met Gary Sinise. Gary had the blue tint, David had regular flesh colors. It was really funny.
Anyone else notice this? It was like they were stapling the words "MIAMI" and "NEW YORK" on their foreheads so we could tell them apart.

From: Bartertown due to it having a better economy than where I really live.
hopefully the NY crew will be better than the Miami one. Sinise is 1000 times better as an actor than Caruso ever dreamed of being, so that's a start. The miami crew is totally forgetable. Other than southern belle with touch of gun nut Cali there's nothing there. The two guys? who is who, they're the same. Ok, the ME is somewhat memorable but only because she's a psycho. "hey baby, did someone kill you baby?"
the vegas crew is much better, hopefully NY will be more like vegas

Yeah that tint thing was really odd. It was so dark in that room, how did Horatio get in their without falling over everything. Oh that's right he brought his own portable Miami sun.
The settings seem to clash a little. The Morgue is just a really dungy basement while the lab is blindingly white. It looks like a SciFi lab. It really looks like Sinise will be carrying the show as the supporting characters really seem to fad. They don't seem to have much personality (granted it is our first glimpse) and they definately don't seem to have the chemistry that CSI: Original Reicipe or Without a Trace has.

Other than the implausability that any police officer would show up in another city to investigate a crime w/o any notice of that city's force, it was an OK episode.
I've always liked Gary Sinese, so I'd watch this no matter what. I hate that tech chick that played Claudia on 24. She really, really gets on my nerves.

Alright one question. I haven't watched Miami since the first 6 or so of the first season. Thought I would check it out for the whole NY thing. The score that was playing last night, was that indicative of regular Miami episode or was that for the NY feel? I loved it. It had a movie like feel to it.

Another thing I noticed was that Mack had a wedding band on, so we'll have a lead CSI with a home life, which is a bit different than the LV or Miami version.

But back to the tinting topic. I felt that the NY palette had more of a washed-out gray look. CSI: Vegas is predominantly blue while CSI: Miami is orange. NY seemed b&w at times.

Vegas is greenish sometimes (but then it goes into the desert, and it's all Miami-like). But nothing beats night-time LV for nifty colors and lights.

Also, Grissom has his bug collection and roller coasters. Caruso has a jones for his brother's widow. That's about all we know about these CSI leads. Even if Mack has a troubled family life, at least it'll be more interesting than the former two.

Its very simple, I'm tired of shows based in NY and I'm not interested in another Law and Order type monopoly. I'll stick to the original CSI and pass on the rest.

How about CSI: South Central. The CSI's never leave the lab.

Wow...I guess I'm a little surprised at the mostly positive reaction. I thought this episode was rather bland and not particularly interesting. Not a good launchpad for the new series, IMO...of course, the actors probably don't have a grasp of their characters yet - so I'm still going to tune in for at least four or five shows in the fall to see how things develop.
