Deadwood, 5/16
Pretty decent episode I thought but it seemed a little slow. I don't really get what's going on with the preacher, and I wish Hickock was still around...

another great episode. this officially the best show on television...easily.
but I thought this season was only to have 10 episodes? right before the preview for next week, however, they said "only 3 episodes left" - so there are actually 12? did they add two to the originally intended 10 when it was so successful? Or did someone lie in the early threads about the 10 episode season?
not that i'm complaining....i wish there were 52 episodes!

Good episode, and nobody even died. I liked all the one on one conversations. The ones between Charlie and Jane were pretty depressing. Robin Weigert has done a hell of a job. In a matter of a few episodes I went from hating Jane to loving her, and I really hope she comes back

This is a great show. I went from watching out of curiosity, to watching because I absolutely love this show. Even when nobody is dying or getting the shit kicked out of them, this show still flies by. The preacher is really annoying, but I guess a tumor could do that to a person. I hope Jane comes back too, she became one of my favorite characters.

Thanks for spoilerizing these. It's hard to keep from reading them, but I'm going to try.

So who knows if the HBO Smith or Bullock or whoever will have the same fate as the real-life Smith or Bullock or whoever, but just in case, I like to spoilerize any historical information that we haven't gotten to in the show yet.

But they have stuck with the major points, specifically who lives and dies. That's what I'd prefer to see play out on the show without knowing ahead of time. I'll probably give in after the first season is over though because of how long we'll have to wait for season 2.
By the way, I read Bullock came to town 2 days before Hickock was killed, not the same day. F'in hooplehead historian c-suckers can't agree on anything. Now I wonder which is right. I think I read it on that Deadwood tourist site someone posted after the first or second episode.

I hope the Season 1 DVD set has some good historical documentaries on what really happened in Deadwood during the time covered by Season 1.

Swearengen is based on a real person
from an article HERE
History tells us that as a local gambling maven, sleepermaster, opium dealer, gold swindler and conniving killer, Swearengen earned a staggering $5,000 a day in the lawless Gold Rush town.
"No one seems to know exactly where Swearengen came from," McShane says. "So Milch decided to make him a Brit, with speech patterns different than everyone else's. Calamity Jane describes my character in the show as 'a slimy limey [bleep].' Which is one of the great 'Deadwood' haikus."

Now for the bad news, how long are we going to have to wait for Season 2? A year? More?

Something I found funny is when that guy asked Al if he could tell the other guy about their deal and Al told that guy sarcastically not to tell the other one about the deal they made together and then when the other guy asked him what was going on he wouldn't tell him.
