Well, "Fleet" appears to be one of the main corporate sponsers in the city of Boston, so this is what they picked for the rhyme-y title. I thought it was pretty bad as well.

They should have called it "Denny Crane".

Fleet Street is where all the newspapers are based in London, or historically has been.

I once sarcastically said they should call this new series Shore Nuff. Now that it has this terrible name, I wonder if mine wouldn't be better.

I'm not from Boston, but isn't Fleet St. a major thoroughfare in Boston?

ABC Turns 'Fleet Street' Into 'Boston Legal'
By Brian Ford Sullivan

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has opted to retitle its upcoming spin-off of "The Practice." Originally branded "The Practice: Fleet Street," the series will now feature the simpler moniker "Boston Legal."

No reason was given for the change. Here's how ABC's press materials describe the series:

Alan Shore and Denny Crane lead the brigade of high-priced civil litigators in an upscale Boston law firm in a series focusing on the professional and personal lives of brilliant, but often emotionally-challenged, attorneys. Fast-paced, darkly comedic, the series will confront social issues, moral conscience, safe sex, pursuit of happiness and money, with varying degrees of priority. Escape to the law firm on One Fleet Street. Where anything goes… and often will.
