Anyone see the 'black and white' trading spaces episode on this weekend?
I don't know whether it was a rereun or not, but basically they had 2 gay male couples who wanted a 'fun colorful room'. The two designers totally RUINED both their rooms by making one 100% black and one 100% white. They showed one team's room before and it looked SO much better! It had great comfortable colors and warm yellow walls. They turned it into a stark white hospital. The other couple's room definately need work, but when they were done it was so dark you couldn't even see anything!! The one dude was in tears afterwards! I felt so sorry for them. This is the reason I'd never give anyone artistic licence with my house - for fear they'd do something awful like this!!!!
Why would the designers pass up an opportunity to do totally fun and colorful rooms? They could have done pink and green polka dots and I think either team would have loved it - instead they did this. What gives??

I am not sure why that one couple even let Trading Spaces in their house after they had painstakingly stripped their woodwork and restored their hardwood floors.
I was surprised the one couple really liked the black room, but that room was just a converted garage or something before so I guess they couldn't screw much up.

I've never seen this happen before, but in the credits they spelled Hildi's name wrong. It's clearly "HILDO SANTO TOMAS" on this episode.
I want to feel sorry for these guys, but I just can't. This is the show. Why the hell you would turn a beautiful room like that over to this show is beyond me. The other guys absolutely loved Hildi's room, so it's hard to fault her too much. Seeing her in all white, instead of her standard wardrobe, was a bigger shock than the room. And an all white room could look very good, as shown by this episode ... just not that room.

It's weird how the pictures of the "black" room make it look silvery/gray. They must have had to light the crap out of it to take the picture, but why did the black show up ok on the TV?
