I thought it was going to be Kovac that was going to end up getting shot by Sam's ex.
Was anyone else hoping another out of control car was going to come along when Alex was sticking his head out the back window of the car as Sam pulled away.

Wow, that didnt end the way that I thought it was going to. But man that was pretty good
I heard that kovach wasnt going to return next year. And I kinda thought that kovach was going to get killed or something. But I guess not, have to wait until next season to find out.
Excellent ending

Abby is finally a doctor!!! Me thinks that her and Carter will be hooking back up next season. They show us too many little hints of the chemistry that those two have not to.
I'm looking forward to Luka tracking down Sam and, unfortunately, her spawn. It will also be good to have Susan back in the ER w/ Chuck coming around once in a while.

Pretty good episode, with a good ending. They left quite a few things hanging in the air with Weaver' case, Neela's decision, Sam leaving, and obviously the ending. I was trying to figure out who was going to get shot the last 10 minutes. I thought that guy that caused the accident was going to grab a cop's gun and shoot somebody in the ER.

Pretty good up 'til the last two minute Holland Tunnel road rage. Though, I have to give 'em credit. I thought it would either be Sam's creepy ex, the heroin addict or Deb's boyfriend [working from the assumption that it was a boyfriend that gave her the shiner].
Also, I, too was thinking, no HOPING, the same thing that MrX was about Sam's hellspawn in the car.

Recap:
Luka stops to help a woman and son as their SUV has stalled. Some coked up idiot comes barrelling down the road, hits the car behind the woman who was looking for the jumper cable in the trunk and she becomes the meat in a SUV sandwich. The ER spends the rest of the episode trying to save the mother and the son. Corday winds up having to decide to amputate the mother's legs as the woman needed surgery on her internal organs and her legs.
Carter and Chen work on the boy and finally they figure out how to do so (tubing the right lung instead of the left lung). The son also comes through surgery fine. Carter was losing some perspective trying to save the boy, so Weaver sent in Chen to "help" him in case he got in too deep.
An old retired math teacher is brought in for complications from his cancer condition. His' Abby's patient (she's still in nurse mode), and the teacher is moping about having nothing to show for 37 years of teaching algebra. Abby calls teacher's old school, and some of his student show up to let him know that he made a difference in their lives.
Weaver continues to fight for Henry in the court room. Sandy's parents paint a perfect picture of parental availability, while Weaver has deceased parents and no other siblings to provide a support system for Henry. Weaver then goes off on a minor rant about her and Sandy's love for Henry and that should come first in the consideration for custody. The judge is still deliberating...
Sam finds out Alex wasn't in school, and was playing hooky with his father, who was a bit on the stoned side. Sam also finds out that Alex's father is getting a job managing an apartment complex nearby. Sam can't take the risk of trying to raise Alex with his father around, so she packs up everything and runs away again. Alex gets a phone call off to Luka, he shows up as Sam is about to drive off. She is scared for Alex and just drives on off, leaving Luka in the middle of the street.
Neela matched at a Michigan medical school/center. She drives to Michigan, attends orientation, and then drops the bomb on the advisor that she doesn't want the internship. The advisor said that she can't be licensed without an internship, and Neela understood. Neela has no idea what her future holds.
Chen showed up with a black eye. Folks in the ER were a little concerned. Pratt couldn't get anything from Chen, and neither did Abby. Finally Chen admits to Pratt that her father did it, but she claimed that her father doesn't really know what's he's doing. Pratt had been sort of looking after Elgin (the 17 year old with the hypertensive medical history). Elgin's mom never showed up to pick him up. Pratt leased a new pimped out Chrysler, offers Elgin and ride, and convinces Chen to go to dinner. So has all 3 are in the car, a case of road rage ensues (after Elgin flips off the crazy driver), a car chase erupts and Pratt and company get shot at by the crazy driver, and then the end credit show up. Ugh, another cliffhanger.
Oh, Abby passed her boards, so she's officially a doctor now! Yay! Carter tells her that he never had a doubt. Weaver was on Abby to find out her scores (even while she's trying to fight for Henry, she's can be heartless wench).

I thought Kovac would at least tell the li'l twit to get back in the car, considering what he'd seen a few hours before.
For one wonderful instant...I thought Sam was going to slap the taste out of his little yap for calling her a bitch.

I was hoping she'd shoot him, as that would have explained the gunfire in the previews and been more satisfying than some random road rage

Did they ever show the son in the accident waking up after surgery? I know the dad was talking to him, but I didn't see if the boy was responding. I thought what was going to happen was that, because the boy was low on oxygen for so long, Carter had saved the kid's life but he would be brain-dead.
At first I was upset about the cliff-hanger ending, but a second later I realized that I didn't care about anyone that was in the car. In my opinion, Pratt is a giant cocky ass, Jing Mei is a bitch, and I don't know anything about Fatty McFinger except that he's fat and he's from the hood, yo.
Nope. I think it was her dad, who is apparently in bad health and being taken care of by her. I guess you can subtract a couple of Bitch Points for that.

Abby is the only storyline I care about. I do like Pratt, but the road rage was too contrived. Neela/Chen/Sam -shrug- Like Romano was, I only like Weaver when she's being nasty, so her son storyline does nothing for me either.

I hope Pratt is killed off from the fun in the tunnel, but I guess that would probably just be wishful thinking. He annoys me highly.

I was also going to say "yet another antigun episode on ER, wow they had 2 or 3 this year and not just the normal 1 per season that they used to do" but didn't want to turn this political
