Frasier: series finale 05/13/04
A reminder to those interested: the series finale of Frasier will be on tonight. It starts with nearly an hour of clips to remember the series at 7:00CST and the finale starts around 7:54CST.
Friends-night extended into The Tonight Show with the whole cast getting together with Jay. Frasier lasted longer, got more Emmys and doesn't get the same respect.

I'm actually looking forward to this epsiode more than I was FRIENDS. I'm guessing it will be one of the better finales for a sitcom, given the writing staff for this program. I still wish the last scene would have Frasier returning to Cheers, but I know that won't happen (even though it would be great!).

As much as I would love that, the writers of FRASIER are much too sophisticated to rip-off the ending to NEWHART.
ALTHOUGH....
It IS possible, because on CHEERS, Frasier's dad was a scientist who had died, not a cop, and Frasier never had a brother.
So it IS possible....

Fab episode, and a fitting end to one of tv's best sitcoms.

And that's all that matters isn't it, sad. At least the good doctor is in your neck of the woods now!

"... and Frasier gets the love of his life." That's the ending they've been promoting all week. Bottom line is they flat out lied to promote the show. That was one of the worst series endings I can recall. Very disappointed.

Wow, that was lame.
I kept waiting for some surprise... some kind of twist...
Hell, anything that was even slightly unexpected.
And it never came. They couldn't have even mustered up one last Lilith appearance? A little Cheers homage? Or, after 11 years, to have Frasier and Niles finally follow through on their desire to express their love - physically?
What a hugely missed oppportunity. Oh, well... it'll probably get hammered by that Survivor double-dip finale, anyhow.

Well, from what I saw, it was downright awful. No laughs up to the point I turned it off, which was the moment the dog ate the ring (hmmm...seems like I've seen that...oh, I don't know...200 times before). The three brothers were increasingly annoying. Drunk people are just NOT funny. I just couldn't stomach it anymore.

I really liked the episode. The ending was understated, which was fitting, and I loved the fact that everyone's life was in some sort of turmoil at the end. I couldn't give two shits about Friends, but I think Frasier was one of the best sitcoms ever, and I'd like to think I know something about the genre.

It was pretty good. I thought it was great when Frasier moved his chair back after the lazy-boy was gone. Then Martin sat in it and said how comfy it was and could have lived with it.
I think it suffered from not having a great last camera shot to remember the show by. Like MASH, Cheers, or Seinfeld. Friends had the same problem. We get a great shot of the back of a door!

I really really enjoyed this ep. Ive been watching pretty religiously for the past 4 or 5 years and this was a great way to end the series. I really am going to miss this show.

So the show just ended with him on the airplane..? wow. that does sound weak. I was hoping to come here and read about how Cheers was mentioned [especially in light of what jeffkjoe wrote above] but that ending seemed weak [I caught from his "goodbye" in the DJ booth onward...].
HOWEVER....Jennifer Beals...
