Excellent episode!!!! Michelle is the stand out character for this season. The only problem I had with the ending was how CTU had no idea a helicopter was in the area. If the area was under satellite survellaince, why didn't somebody notice it and inform Jack. Still a cool ending with the planes!
|
Why the hell did Jack order Michelle to surrender and go through with the transaction? She had a gun. Only two people were chasing her, one of them Saunders. The odds seemed better just having her handle things.
|
Because then Jack wouldn't have had a reason to beat down on Tony yet again? And we'd miss the freaking F-18's?
Seriously, it would probably have been harder for Michelle to capture Saunders alive in that context. And I'm not sure she or anyone knew there were only 2 people chasing her. |

Still a cool ending with the planes! And they ask for Marines to provide a backup (mentioned when Chase is still in the CTU office) -- maybe incase the helicopter comes out. And nobody have the time to look at the satellite image of the area during the heat of the battle -- that's the reason why they didn't know the helicopter was there. |

Originally posted by IamFlip Maybe Jack is afraid that Michelle might end up killing Saunders. And by doing the exchange, they get to kill more terrorists and get rid of that helicopter. I'm sure Michelle could have given them her location and sent in the special ops. She even had a cell phone. Can't CTU triangulate a position if she stayed on the line (assuming its not Chloe hanging up on her, heh)? Sorry, it just really bugged me that Jack went out of his way to risk Michelle's life. The whole exchange was meant to free her, which she managed to do on her own. They were risking losing their leverage of Saunder's daughter, and Saunders wasn't even guaranteed to be there. Too many variables. Then again, maybe Jack isn't so sharp after what he's gone through today. |

So how come Saunders takes all these measures to throw them off and make sure they can't trace him but then he just completely trusts that Tony won't bring in the entire national guard?

Put it back in you pants, cranky, you're a married man now.

I am assuming that they have unlisted/private/confidentuial phone numbers, not like some yokel is just calling up to chat. Gee maybe it is one of the many field ops out in the field that is getting bad reception, maybe hanging up is not the right protocol to follow. |
As funny as that line was, this has been a MAJOR stumbling block for me this year.
Ostensibly, CTU is the creme de la creme and yet this year we've got Kim the Spokesmodel and Adam and Chloe, who obviously ride the short bus to work each day. |
Other than the Palmer bit, great episode, I wish they would just kill off Sherry or something.

I'm not a Monkey, I'll just play one on the internet, since the real monkey appears to have been kidnapped, based on his posts in this thread :)
This episode had tons of silly moments (some already mentioned, naturally, since I was 2 days late in watching this episode). I enjoyed it, but I just can't ignore certain things, as much as I try. - Jack radios in that Saunders in custody... while turning his back on Saunders, who isn't handcuffed or detained in any way. - Saunders forgets to look around with binoculars (or with his eyes) when reaching the exchange site, thus not blowing the cover of the poorly hidden CTU folks - Saunders, despite having his original hideout blown and despite being in building with Michelle with only one other person, somehow manages to bring 3 SUVs full of guys to the exchange site just minutes later - Michelle calls Chloe instead of Tony, Jack, the janitor, the Pillsbury Dough Boy, Carrot Top, anyone else who might be a better choice (the 1-800-RETARDO joke was much better than my Dough Boy reference though :() - Michelle forgets she has a gun when being chased. It was only 1 v 2 and she had the advantage of being able to hide and pick them off without being seen. - Saunders finds the one escape route that no one was covering I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, but those were the ones I could remember off the top of my head. |
I hated this episode. "Let's give up Michelle, even though we still have his daughter."
Lame...Def. Jumped the Shark this year. |

Could jack save Tony's ass by saying that it was a setup to get Saunders in a known place at a known time? Like "When Tony found out they had Michelle, he came to me and we arranged a phony breakout with Jane (had to make it look authentic because there might be a mole)" ?

They just played a preview for next weeks episode on Fox, with a pretty big, yet vague, spoiler:
