Perhaps more recent shows/seasons for TV shows have been selling better than older ones, thus they thought they could cash in this way?

Given that 2/3 of the S14 L&O episodes have already been repeated and given that L&O will probably run at least twice per week in repeats for the rest of the summer on NBC (meaning that every episode of S14 will have been aired 2-3 times by the time of the DVD release), the move is perplexing.

Damnit, if Carey Lowell returns to television that means that I am going to have another new show to watch.

I read in TV guide that Dennis Farina got a 5 or 6 year contract for Law and Order. They must have high hopes for him to get a deal like that.

They're skipping over the good stuff with those DVD releases. The Briscoe and Logan episodes of Law and Order are the cream of the crop! (With a cherry on top when you add Claire Kincaid!)
Damn....oh well, now I'll be limited to only being able to catch those episodes 5 times a day on TNT.

Carey/Jamie is favorite of all the ADAs. While I would prefer to see her return to the flagship to boot blondie out of there, this would do nicely. Quite nicely. I'm having a feeling that Trial by Jury could become my favorite of the L&Os.
Hopefully, they'll have Neil Gordon as defense counsel on occasion.

As for the original i'm completely in awe of the casting of Dennis Farina and though I love Orbach's character i'm definitely interested in seeing how he and Greene work together under Van Buren!

More Trial by Jury casting news from www.tvguide.com
CASTING COUPS: Sitcom vets Candice Bergen (Murphy Brown) and John Mahoney (Frasier) are in talks to join the cast of Dick Wolf's latest Law & Order spinoff, Trial by Jury, Variety reports. And as first reported last week by TV Guide Online, former Law & Order star Carey Lowell is also near a deal to reprise her role as Jamie Ross on the upcoming offshoot.

wow, Candice Bergen and Mahoney. I think they are both great additions.

This may be the first L&O spinoff that I actually watch. The cast so far is looking fantastic.
Some magazine I was reading recently (Entertainment Weekly?) had an interview with Dick Wolf where he reiterated his desire to beat the 20 seasons of Bonanza. I dunno... I'm already burning out on L&O. To think that there could be another 6-7 seasons left? That's just too much.

Jesse Martin close to inking L&O contract extension.
from tvguide.com
I swear I did not make up the part about no-talent Rohm.
from tvguide.com
DOINK DOINK: Law & Order star Jesse L. Martin is thisclose to signing a new multiyear, multimillion-dollar deal with the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Come fall, Martin will get a new partner, played by Dennis Farina. Meanwhile, there's apparently no truth to the nasty rumor that Martin's much-maligned co-star, Elisabeth Rohm, will be replaced next season by a wig-wearing Snapple bottle.
I swear I did not make up the part about no-talent Rohm.

Sweet news about Martin, I'll keep watching as long as he and Waterson are still around.

What is hard to believe is after this next season, Martin will have had the longest term in that cop slot. Doesn't feel like he has been around that long.
What is even harder to believe is that after this next season, No- Talent will have had the longest term as 2nd chair ADA.

I just read this in "Cynthia Turner's Cynopsis 06/23/04", a daily TV industry e-mail. Oh, how I hope it is true.
"The Law & Order revolving door continues to turn, and moving out after the first 13 eps next season is Elisabeth Rohm who plays ADA Serena Southerlyn. No word on the newcomer."

Believe me, I want her gone as much as anybody. That dead-eyed stare sucks the wind out of every scene she's in. She's an insult to the great women (and man) who came before her.
The e-mail is legit, I pray the information is too.
