ALias 5/2
wow. normally i don't think about the far fetchedness of this show but for some reason, tonight was just way over the top. the only good part to me was when jack gave vaughn the key to take care of lauren. that just confirms my love of jack's character. plus we have to wait three weeks for the season finale.

Legacy
An okay episode: Vaughn's single-minded-ness in getting even with Lauren affects the interrogation with the tooth doctor. Sloan has to make a deal with the blondies that he breaks just to get the green liquid for Nadia. Jack has to broker a deal with Toni to get into Sloan's place in Kyoto by overcoming the security system. Toni tries to hire Marshall. Marshall was dumb enough to show her photos of his newborn. Sydney rescues Nadia, though Nadia does return the favor since Vaughn left Sydney to go chasing after Lauren. Vaughn's checking out Jack's stash to get geared up to go after Lauren. Jack and Katya hook up. |
The bazooka scene reminded me of something from the Naked Gun movies.
|
yeah, that was the part where i actually laughed out loud.

Enjoyed the scene where Toni tried to recruit Marshal.
Jack was great w/ Vaughn and the key, but he really shined when he hooked up w/ his former sister-in-law. |
Wow. I didn't realize that was Vivica A. Fox.
|
Toni made an appearance earlier this season.
|
Damn T-Storm and weather updates took out about 10 minutes of the show.
Good to see Vaughn becoming Jack. I'm going to miss Lauren if and when she buys it. |
Originally posted by Timber I'm going to miss Lauren if and when she buys it. The minute they get and her f'd mouth of this show, I will be happy as all get out. |
Pretty lame episode.
This show can be over the top but the bazooka scene was just bad. The only good thing about the episode was the Toni/Marshal scene. |

 :
Marshall & Vivica. Nadia  Mack daddy Jack hookin' up at the end. : Three weeks until the season finale?!? And they wonder why the ratings are low...[Besides stiff Sunday nite competition...] Vaughn. Ooo. He's grown a set. -rolleyes- Umm...what happened to Vivica at the end? |
Originally posted by Rogue588 Umm...what happened to Vivica at the end? She got her release from prison by assisitng them so I think we're just supposed to assume she was free to go. |
It's about time they brought back The Dentist. One in five, bitch!
Vivica Fox looked relatively like ass (compared to how she normally looks, which is stunning), but she's been in prison, so I guess it works. I loved Vaughn chasing after Lauren. So predictable. Didn't he ever watch Top Gun? You never, ever leave your wingman. Especially when she's Sydney Bristow, and you're trying to get into her pants. Crash and burn, huh, Mav? And speaking of Vaughn, nice job looking into the rifle scope in Jack's Gun Emporium with the cover still on the scope. His gun-related skills were all over the charts in this episode. First he comes out of the water in Cuba and kills two guys at long range with a pistol, each with one shot. But when he's in the same damn room with Sark AND Lauren, he can't hit either of them with an automatic weapon! The Amazing Unhittable Sark lives to fight another day. |
Too bad about the long delay between episodes. Next week is figure skating, and then Alias's time slot is occupied by Regis and his super millionaire show. But in 3 weeks it'll be back for the finale, yay.
I thought the bazooka bit was corny too. My guess is it was either Melissa George saying "it would be cool if I did this," or some suit saying "we need more explosions!" |

The episode was rather uneven but the good parts (Toni & Marshall, Jack getting his groove on, the return of the doctor) outweighed the bad (Lauren & the bazooka).
Granted, I want Vaughn to blow Lauren away as much as the next person but I'm not buying the complete personality change. Actually I'm wonderign why Dixon let him back in the office - hey your wife3 betrayed the country and tortured you, maybe you should take a couple days and talk to a shrink. AFter the first meeting it should have been clear that he wasn't fit for duty just yet. |
Dixon has been this plot convenience device of late. When you need him to look the other way, he does.
|
The bazooka scene will live in Alias infamy. That was laugh out loud (unintentionally) funny.
Sydney should refuse to work with Vaugh until he's cleared by psych to return to work, but of course she won't do that, and Vaughn will once again put her in jeapordy to get Lauren, and I'm sure that will somehow lead to the season ending cliffhanger. |
It was funny when either Sydney or Lauren was croutched down near the tan piece of furniture 'shooting' her gun. It was still making the bang-bang sounds but it was obviously out of amo!!! Gotta love hollywood.

Ugh. I'm actually starting to dislike this show a little bit. It is all over the map and has a very distinct 'making it up as we go along' quality this season.
Not the worst show on the air... but if this were the first season, I wouldn't have continued watching the show. Here's hoping that they rebound with Season 4. |
As long as we're discussing plausibility, wouldn't Vaughn be interrogated as a possible Covenant spy? His GF (Syd) mysteriously disappears, then a year later he gets married to a member of the Covenant? And no one things gee, that's odd. We know Vaughn is dumb, but the CIA shouldn't assume that he is.

I agree that this episode was all over the place. I had heard that Vaughn was not acting well in this episode and the rumors were so true. I guess he just can't handle the angry husband thing.
 Jack's storage locker. Looking forward to the last episode but I just can't believe that they're going to make us wait 3 weeks. |
OK, there were so many streches, even in the Alias world:
"I'm out of Rimbaldi serum. I need you to go to a storage facility and pick some up. Can you get some milk, too, while you're there?" WTF? What was up with the little tiny bottle of serum that Lauren took out and then a minute later when Sloane is putting the bag up to do the IV, the bag is like a quart full? How did the huge commando team miss the two Sloane guards that took him away? Why is it that Syd cannot take care of herself against two guys in suits, when she can usually defeat trained warriors from all over the world? I won't even go into all the things already mentioned (bazooka, bad shooting, etc.) So, who will be the villian next season? In other words, who will die or get thrown in prision in the season finale? |
When they were arriving in Kyoto, I was thinking "Why does Weiss always end up stuck doing grunt work?" Considering how dumb Vaughn is, you would think this office would at least change up Sydneys partner every now and then, but yet its always Vaughn (unless hes been captured or in the hospital).
This episode had a few good points (Jack talking about disposing of Laurens remains...badass), but there were definitely a few too many laughs, with the bazooka being the biggest one. Im noticing a lot of dialogue that just gets on my nerves. Shows like this and 24 sometimes have the characters repeat things we already know from the last episode to help the new viewer follow along, but they are starting to repeat things from the first half of the episode now (how many times did Sydney ask Vaughn if she could trust him to stay with the mission specs?). |
I kept thinking last night's episode was the episode that Weiss would be revealed as a bad guy as well (due to early season speculation). Weiss seemed out of sorts in the episode (like when Vaughn and Weiss almost shoot each other as Vaughn is chasing the Blondies. And not getting the sat-feed Vaughn wanted.
|
At Kyoto, why was Toni (Vivica A. Fox) running alongside Vaughn with machine guns blazing? -ohbfrank-
Last I checked, she was a prisoner with a conditional release for her assistance in bypassing the security system that she designed? The gun toting part just made absolutely no sense at all... -rolleyes- |
Originally posted by ~~ PAL ~~ The gun toting part just made absolutely no sense at all... -rolleyes- I'm not liking this one bit. :( [I don't mean to rag on the show -- it's really been one of my favorites for a couple of years. But, man, last night was just depressing.] |
Personally, I think the writers have dragged on the Rambaldi story arc long enough. I wish they would take the characters in a new direction...hell maybe kill off a major one!!!!

Maybe they could kill Sydney at the end of this season. Then we find out that Sloane has been working with a double-secret organization called, say, The Compact, on a project called, oh, The Ascendancy. And Vaughn's father, who might not really be dead btw, was growing a clone of Sydney for The Compact ... but, see, he's hidden the location of that clone, heretofore known as The Flux-Capacitor, in a series of complex puzzles that only The Hand, The CIA, The Covenant, SD-6, K-Directorate, and The Vulcan Science Academy know about. This "secret" lab is run by Irina's sister. No, not her, the other one ... no, the other one. Incidentally, she's Vaughn's birth mother. Oh, and Jack fathered Lauren with Sark's mother, but that's for later in the season. Anyway, this ragtag group will spend the 4th season trying to save this show from caving in on itself, but first they must find ... The Serum.

I'm waiting for Sydney and Marshall to be revealed as siblings.

das Monkey had me rolling on the floor with the following: Maybe they could kill Sydney at the end of this season. I was getting that confused vibe: Wait, did they make a cheesy action movie out of Alias now??? Where's Sly Stallone? Where's Governor Ahnold?? ;) |
[i] Didn't he ever watch Top Gun? You never, ever leave your wingman. Especially when she's Sydney Bristow, and you're trying to get into her pants. Crash and burn, huh, Mav? [/B] Here's the big question, which the gf actually brought up and I'm disappointed at myself for not asking it myself - Why the hell isn't the CIA going "WTF! How is Sloane all of a sudden alive?!?!?" Otherwise, ehh epsiode. I'm betting Vaughn goes Vader or has a major laps and Syd's sister gets kill because of him. As a result that will be the motivation to keep them apart for season 4. Meanwhile, in other news, ABC execs are dumbasses for giving a 3 week laps until the season finale. By making this decision they have alianated even more viewers and killed their 5-6 week leadup. This may seem familiar to those of you who are aware of "The Superbowl Episode" incident. Speculation continues as to whether a similiar manuver will be pulled next season. |
Why do Sydney and Vaughn get codenames but when Marshall talks to Weiss on his com he is just Weiss?
|
Which sister?
