Southfork Ranch

I'm out here in Plano, TX on business. Having never been in TX before and being a HUGE fan of the TV night time soap "Dallas", I decided to put the address of Southfork Ranch and the address of my hotel in Plano and found that there is less than 18 miles between the two. So I decided to visit Southfork Ranch on my lunch hour and checked out the house from the road situated in front of it. I was struck by how my world of reality and fantasy were seemingly colliding, leaving me unable to reconcile the two. I didn't have time to take the tour, but will do so this coming weekend. From what I understand, the gun that shot JR is included as well as the big 'ol Lincoln Continental "Ewing 1" that the family patriarch Joch Ewing (aka Jim Davis) used to drive. There's also "Miss Ellie's Deli" to grab a bite. Unfortunately, due to licensing restrictions enforced by Lorimar, they are unable to sell anything with images of the show. However, there are some cool shirts with a colorful replica of the house saying "Southfork Ranch, Dallas TX - Where The Legend Began".

I could post some pics afterwards if anyone is interested, as I'm taking my camera along for the ride. This is really a huge treat and unexpected surprise for me to be able to visit this house which was such an important "show" piece.

Dallas was a pretty good show, especially considering I was a little kid when it was on and liked watching it
