What's wrong with your favorite show, and how would you fix it?

Show: Smallville

Problem: It sucks. I love Superman, and that's basically the only reason I keep watching Smallville. Every Tuesday I tune in hoping it will be good, or at least hoping for a moment like the time the kid who could see people's deaths saw the Superman cape flying in the clouds, but most weeks I'm just angry I wasted an hour of my life.

IMO, the problem with Smallville is they don't focus on Clark Kent, Teenager from Another Planet. If you're making "Smallville" and not "Superman", they should be focused on Clark's life as a high school student. The episode where he couldn't join the football team, the one where he was ejaculating heat out of his eyes, THOSE are the things they should be featuring. If they're just going to act like Clark doesn't go to school and simply battles monsters and Luthers every week, they might as well put the cape on him.

Suggestion: Make the show about Clark in high school. No one cares about the caves, no one cares about Lionel killing his parents, no one cares about Rutger Hauer, no one cares about the 1001 uses for kryptonite, etc. Make the four kids go to school, not work/visit the Talon 24 hours a day.

Part of the greatness of a show like Buffy stemmed from the fact that despite the preposterous life she led, Buffy still had to deal with tests, teachers, her mom, boyfriend trouble, etc. That's what Smallville should be about.

Excuse my ranting, I just wanted to offer a little constructive criticism, as opposed to the usual bashing I do around here.

Show: Keen Eddie.

Problem: It was cancelled.

Suggestion: Presuade one of the multitude of networks out there to renew it. I haven't really seen any of the actors on any other shows, so they might still be available.

does this count?

Law & Order

1. Fire Elisabeth Rohm
2. Fire Elisabeth Rohm
3. Fire Elisabeth Rohm
4. Fire Elisabeth Rohm
5. Fire Elisabeth Rohm
6. Do what it takes to keep Jerry Orbach on board
7. Don't emphasize 'Ripped from the Headlines' so much. You can do such stories, but don't let the NBC overpromotion team know about it.
8. Get back to legal nuances. Law & Order was great when it was realistic. To this day, it remains the most realistic legal drama on television.
9. Do not create another Law & Order and eliminate C.I. SVU is a very good show. C.I. sucks. Eliminate this excess L&O - not enough stories to go around.
10. Do what it takes to get Steven Hill back. I don't particularly mind the ex-Senator (better than Dianne Wiest), but Arthur Branch is no Adam Schiff.
11. Last and certainly not least, bring back Carey Lowell to replace the aforementioned Rohm. L&O was at its best in S7 & S8 when McCoy and Ross were in the DA's office. They often had different viewpoints but they were such a great team because they made each other better.

Alias
- Don't stray from the Rambadi storyline so much, like you did for the first 2/3 of this season.
- Do what it takes to get Lena Olin come back.

Gilmore Girls
- Have Lorelai dump Jason. Totally drop the Jason-Lorelai love angle.
- Never speak of Jess again
- Stay away from Dean/Rory plots that hint that they might be more than just friends again.

24
- Kill Kim off
- Get rid of Chloe
- Hire new writers
- Stop trying to "shock" us every week
- Consider ending the show

Survivor
- Consider going out "on top" at the end of All-Stars
- Find things that actually make the seasons vary a bit more

CSI
- Cancel CSI Miami and CSI New York
- Hire new writers
- Either don't try to build characters, or build them fully. None of this current garbage.

scrubs
problem: languishing in last place against 24, Frasier and pretty much anything else is on.
fix: put it back on Thurs where it belongs. 8 or 8:30.

ER
problem: too much Pratt and not enough Gallant.
fix: none, Gallant has left the building.

CSI
problem: Miami and NY
fix: cancel and put all those writers to work on the original and have a killer episode EVERY week.

24
problem: killing off major characters for shock value
fix: 'erm stop killing off major characters for shock value

Will & Grace
Problem: Too Gay
Suggestion: Make Will straight and in love with Grace. It would work funny as a quirky romance.

The Bernie Mac Show
Problem: Too black
Suggestion: Replace Bernie Mac with a much funnier father figure like Bob Saget. He could easily be replaced like the two Darrens on Bewitched. Maybe add a fuuny neighbor like Monroe from Too Close For Comfort

My suggestion is too make all TV show like Full House or Friends. Show with no minorities or gays show audiences a perfect utopia of what America should be.

There are no gays on Friends? Have you ever watched Friends? What about Ross' ex-wife (the first one)?

I totally agree with this. The show has become too lazy. McCoy's favorite charge for many episodes seems to be "depraved indifference."
Or, they do some major legal gymnastics that would boggle the mind.

Chappelle's Show:

What's wrong? It's too short.

Fix? Make it an hour, or at least get rid of the musical performances. I don't hate them all, but would much rather have another sketch.

But who knows, maybe a longer show would mean dumber sketches to fill the time, or the show would get old too quickly.

Fave Show - Conan

What's Wrong? Conan's "Ooowwwww" and cat hisses to the camera.

How to fix? Errm... Ask Conan to stop doing the "Oooowww" noise and cat hiss.

Other than that, he's a legend.

I would actually watch L & O regularly if they did this. I only watch it when there is nothing else on, but I really liked her on this show.

Or Better yet, add one black male, one asian female, one mexican couple, a gay hawaiian couple, a middle eastern male, and one australlian in a wheelchair to every sitcom that has a main cast made up of white folks. Then we can meet the quota and live in utopia.

Show: The West Wing

Problem: It sucks this year. Pretty hard.

Suggestion: Give Aaron Sorkin anything he asks for.

Gee, that was easy.

Show: Angel.

Problem: Getting cancelled.

Suggestion: Curse at WB.

Show: 24.

Problem: Overeliance on twists and shocks leads to predictability; storylines introduced for shock value (Jack's addiction, Tony getting shot in the head) are later ignored when they'd get in the way of the story.

Suggestion: Dole out fewer surprises and they'll be more effective. And don't just save them for the last few seconds of the episode. Fill up the remaining time with suspense and good writing. Don't introduce something unless you're willing it see it through to the end.

Show: Sopranos.

Problem: Not enough whackings! Just kidding. The show still has great writing, but there is not enough of that tenseness and suspense from the first few seasons. And when it is tense, major crisises are always narrowly averted (Tony and Chris' fallout over Adriana).

Suggestion: A major crisis needs to happen, and it needs to go REALLY wrong.

Show: Jamie Kennedy Experiment.

Problem: Too many of the marks seem to be in on the joke, or at least the reactions aren't as wild. Even under pounds of makeup, Jamie is too recognizable now.

Suggestion: Jamie should form a troupe of unfamiliar Xers, who can play some of the pranks.
