Crossing Jordan (4/25): All the News Fit to Print

ALL THE NEWS FIT TO PRINT__
10pm 2004-04-25 ___ALL NEW!

REPORTER FACES FINAL DEADLINE WITH STORY ABOUT YOUNG PROSTITUTE -- A reporter (guest star Christopher Goodman) is found beaten and shot to death while following a story about a young prostitute. While Woody (Jerry O'Connell) faults the victim for further exploiting the young woman to advance his career, Bug (Ravi Kapoor) suspects that the man may have been murdered for trying to protect his source. Meanwhile, Macy (Miguel Ferrer) tries to save the life of a hit and run victim, but finds himself the center of a wrongful death suit when the man later dies in the emergency room. Devan (Jennifer Finnigan) performs an autopsy on the victim and discovers that the car accident was not the end of the foul play to befall him. Kathryn Hahn and Ivan Sergei also star.

Woody: "Why do they call you 'Bug'?"

Bug: "Because I like bugs... why do they call you 'Woody'?"

Adding a few points:

- Ends with a Warren Zevon song... *sniff*... touching.

- I just realized that Jordan was not in this episode.

- Woody/Bug Storyline: Kinda boring... but how did Bug know where Natasha's Dad was headed? Did I miss something?

- Macy/Newbies Storyline: Pretty good... kind of a dumb twist at the end, but fitting. I hate the new blonde... but I like how they used her to fill-in for the missing Jordan.

Remember at the beginning Bug said she was at some long-named Medical conference thingy.

I know this show is often more about style than substance, and they're always trying to cleverly work music in the episodes, but the first few scenes were really jarring. It was almost like a C.S.I. parody for the first 15 minutes.

Still, it was enjoyable as usual. The timeline doesn't fit, since Maguire's already had a case, but I imagine they filmed these episodes out of order to accommodate Hennessy and are trying to mix them in so it's not so obvious.

Good to see Bug finally do something.

Madam [To Woody]: "We're starting up a male division if you're interested."
Bug: "What about me?"

Also good to see Richard Biggs as a semi bad guy.

He led the Dad there. I believe Bug put together that while the "Natasha" story was made up, the physical description was the waitress the journalist would talk to at the restaurant, and took the Dad there to see if it was his daughter.
