I'm a guy. Would I like "Sex in the City"?
A female friend thinks I would, so I'm considering Netflixing the first season and giving it a shot. I thought, though, that I would get some opinions here first before I take up precious queue space. I don't mind at all a show that's centered on female characters, but I don't particularly like "chick shows" and wonder if I'll relate to this one enough to appreciate it. I know that Wilbon on PTI speaks highly of it, so maybe it's just the title that's causing me to shy away. Any input?

I prefer a b _ _ _ _ _ _ in the country, but maybe that's just me.
Ironically, I liked it more than my wife did. Occasionally it slowed down, but usually not for long. If you find the voiceover work annoying, then you might have trouble with it. Also, though I generally enjoyed each one, I had trouble watching more than, say, three in one sitting.

Wilbon's taste in television is shit ... usually . In this case, he's right. To be fair, if he'd get off his high horse and actually watch half the shows he says sucks, I bet he'd like many of them; but he's too busy to watch them and too arrogant to admit he doesn't know wtf he's talking about.
That being said, I have no idea whether you'll like it or not, but I would argue that the biggest misconception about Sex and the City is that it's a "chick show." It's not. It's a show about relationships. Certainly, women are typically more into shows like that than men, but it's not like the kind of girly fluff you'd see on Lifetime or Oprah. It's about all kinds of relationships (men and women): dating, marriage, friendships, and the relationship New Yorkers have with their beloved city.
Personally, I think it was one of the more intelligent and insightful shows on the air in recent years, and it was often incredibly funny. It's certainly not for everyone, and it's definitely not a "manly" show, but it's not just for women. If you think you might like it, give it a shot.

NEGATIVE!
Then again, I have seen this show, and detested it greatly.
Man or woman, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but I realize I am in the minority.

It's a guy show dressed in a girly package.
So does that make it a transvestite show?
It has some amazing moments. Netflix the first season and see if it's your style.

I tried it out and it wasn't for me. I bought the first season and watched the first three episodes but couldn't get into it at all. But I guess it really depends on what makes you laugh.

Depends on how well you handle female self-obsession and shallowness, in a l33t insular NYC package. If you can laugh at it you should be fine. If you're like me, you'll only check it out begrudgingly to get in some panties yourself.

Watch 3 episodes to see each of the women naked (Sarah Jessica Parker won't, so don't wait for it). Then there's no reason to watch it again. Unless you're gay or a woman, then you'll love it.

So let me get this right, some guys don't want to watch this because what? they don't like swearing, inside knowledge on what women what and naked sex scenes.
Yeah! I would hate that as well.

Well said. It never ceases to amaze me how you can still talk with all that dick in your mouth. Have you been practicing?

I think it's reaching for mediocre, but has some very good moments. It's kinda like Will & Grace, the normal characters (Will & Grace, and Carrie & Miranda on SATC) are unremarkable while the charicatures (Jack & Karen on Will & Grace, and Sam & Charlotte on SATC) bring the funny.
Samantha's battle with the transexual hookers is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
