Are you ready for more Penn & Teller Bull****?

Penn & Teller's second season of Bullshit starts on Showtime on Thursday April 1 at 9:00pm CST.

The first show will be about one of DVD Talk's favorite punching bags, PETA. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

The second show will be Safety Hysteria, I would think about how people are so wrong in how they assess the various risks in our lives. This looks like a great one to me.

Some other topics: the business of love, 12-stepping, death, the fountain of youth

The season is going to be split into two parts with eight shows starting April 1 and then six more starting sometime in August.

I can't wait for the new season to start.

And don't forget the first season will be released on DVD on March 30.

Hell yeah!

I hear the first episode is really short. Penn says "PETA", Teller holds up a sign that says "BULLSHIT", roll credits.

Looks like some solid topics. They seemed to sell a couple of topics short last year with the short season, so hopefully they have enough room to cover everything this time.

Looks like I might be ordering a temporary subscription to Showtime.

Are there plans to rerun season 1 before this starts?

I've never seen the show, but was thinking of picking up the DVD set. What I want to know is how envolved Penn & Teller are in the creation of the show. Are they actually going around talking to the psychics/bullshitters/whoever...? Or are they just doing around segment introductions like Alfred Hitchcock presents?

My wife to me, last night: "You're going to order Showtime for ONE SHOW?!?"

Uh-oh.

If it's anywhere near as good as the bottled water and psychic segments it'll be worth it

I don't know what cable or satellite company you're with but here's what happened to me with Charter Cable.

We had digital cable but with no pay channels. We also had Charter high speed internet. A few weeks ago I realized I needed to get HBO for The Sopranos and Showtime for Bullshit. I called expecting to have to add them both for about $10 each. Instead, I got a deal to add every pay channel plus video on demand for only $10 more than we were paying. Deal good through January 2005.

I have DirectTV. Everything is in "packages." What I have to do is add the Showtime "package" (9 channels, some of them the same just for different time zones) for $12 a month.

I wish they had a $12 "variety pack" package where I could get one HBO channel, one Showtime channel, one Starz channel, etc.

That would be nice, but those extra channels have a significantly lower cost than the primary.

Just respond "Well, technically, two shows. There's that lesbian show I've been meaning to catch".

Well Family Business is well worth having as a 2nd show. Of course, I'm sure the wife will love that.

So, the challenge here is to convince my Mormon wife that $12 a month is well-spent on softcore porn and a show with profanity in the title.

Why not just convince one of your other wives?
