Scrubs 3/16

I still can't get used to this being on Tuesdays.

The skit of DJ being Dr. Cox was great!

Tom Banjo 03-16-04 08:59 PM

That was a really good episode. It was neat the way they used the butterfly. Very Bradbury-ish.

maxpower 03-16-04 09:00 PM

This show rarely fails to amaze me.
It is witty, heartfelt, outrageous and original.
It is as deep in meaning as it can be shallow in jokes.
I can't see how this show just does not appeal to the masses as it clearly can entertain all kinds of viewers.

hotaru_san 03-16-04 09:00 PM

good episode, this is one of very few shows that consistantly impresses me

shawagg 03-17-04 02:10 AM

This is the best show on TV right now. I love how they play with the storytelling but always ground it in reality and keep it heartfelt and honest.

That "good" ending was great and so bold.

The best writers on TV today, yeah even better than the Simpsons.

So far this season I think the best ep. has been the one where Brenden Frasier comes on and JD loses a patient (yes I'm being vauge to not ruin it for the people who havn't seen it).

Later, Mighty Kites!!

MrX 03-17-04 03:02 AM

Kelso dancing:lol:

JD's Cox impression was great

Michael Corvin 03-17-04 06:37 AM

DO-RAG!

shadowhawk2020 03-17-04 06:37 AM

"I gotta get Turk a washboard" rotfl

"I don't like candy bracelets, (Ilove them)" rotfl

This Ep was GOLD!!!

Shadow

Bandoman 03-17-04 08:58 AM

b-b-but the guy dies in surgery at the end anyway! [Bando cries]

Elliot to Todd: "Show me your penis and I'll take it away from you".

Patman 03-17-04 09:11 AM

Great hillside landing...on the first try!

The banjo playing was hysterically funny, as was JD's impersonation of Cox.

The janitor's room was disturbing as hell.

Love this show.

Cusm 03-17-04 09:24 AM

Loved JD's picture on the wall of the janitor's room.

Giles 03-17-04 09:55 AM

very clever episode

I sooooo want this show on DVD.

rfduncan 03-17-04 10:02 AM

Turk to Todd "DUDE! Too deep!"

Did anyone think this episode was shown out of sequence? The midget guy Randall was just made a janitor - JD makes a comment that that is why he was showing up in his dreams again? I thought he was already hanging out with Janitor during the Michael J. Fox story arc (specifically "My Catalyst" where they were hiding the garbage)?

Phyre 03-17-04 04:04 PM

Interesting that these last two episodes have been rather high-concept.

Tsar Chasm 03-17-04 04:46 PM

dibs on the watch.

This show and Arrested Development give me hope for the future of comedy.

I noticed that too. Looks like the episode is out of order (which isn't the first time it's happened this season). According the episode listing at NBC's website, "My Butterfly" is episode 312. "My Catalyst" is episode 316.

But the listed episode numbers are a little screwy too. "My Screwup" is 315 and "My Tormented Mentor" is 314, which is obviously backwards.

It fails to amaze me how gems like this and Arrested Development can be looked over by the mensas in programming time and time again.

The Todd: "Cool"
what a freak

This is rather disgusting:
"For the night, FOX averaged a 15.2 rating/23 share, doubling up second place CBS' 7.6/12. ABC was back in third with a 5.5/9 and NBC limped to a fourth place finish at 5.4/9. UPN had a 2.8/4 to beat The WB's 1.9/3."

I wondered if the discussion of the patient's death from an aortic dissection was a tribute to John Ritter, since he had played JD's father. The reason I ask is because that is kind of a rare condition.

Kal-El 03-18-04 06:21 PM

I watched the first half when I was on lunch and I was pounding the table in laughter at JD's impression of Cox and his BIG poster under the word "HIM" in the janitor's closet.

 for the prolonged first hillside landing.

silentbob007 03-18-04 08:16 PM

Don't you just have that horrible, sinking feeling that Scrubs has been sentenced to death by Simon and The Donald?

Michael Corvin 03-18-04 10:33 PM

^^ not just yet. With Friends and Frasier leaving, they can't afford to cancel even a moderate hit.

That's actually a really good thought - I'm sure it factored into it.

BTW, the incidence of a dissecting aortic aneurysm is estimated to be anywhere between 0.1 to 0.8%. It's not common, but it's not super rare either.

J.D.'s impersonation of Dr. Cox was amazing.

This show continues to be my favorite piece of entertainment on television week after week. It is pure, unadulterated brilliance.

BT 03-19-04 06:24 PM

Concur with everyone above. Great show, great episode. Having it on Tuesday is no problem for the TiVo. :) And agree with the comment above that with Friends and Frasier going bye-bye NBC will need Scrubs more than ever.

Carla munching the Snickers bar in the couch
