This show rarely fails to amaze me.
It is witty, heartfelt, outrageous and original.
It is as deep in meaning as it can be shallow in jokes.
I can't see how this show just does not appeal to the masses as it clearly can entertain all kinds of viewers.

This is the best show on TV right now. I love how they play with the storytelling but always ground it in reality and keep it heartfelt and honest.
That "good" ending was great and so bold.
The best writers on TV today, yeah even better than the Simpsons.
So far this season I think the best ep. has been the one where Brenden Frasier comes on and JD loses a patient (yes I'm being vauge to not ruin it for the people who havn't seen it).
Later, Mighty Kites!!

Great hillside landing...on the first try!
The banjo playing was hysterically funny, as was JD's impersonation of Cox.
The janitor's room was disturbing as hell.
Love this show.

Loved JD's picture on the wall of the janitor's room.

Turk to Todd "DUDE! Too deep!"
Did anyone think this episode was shown out of sequence? The midget guy Randall was just made a janitor - JD makes a comment that that is why he was showing up in his dreams again? I thought he was already hanging out with Janitor during the Michael J. Fox story arc (specifically "My Catalyst" where they were hiding the garbage)?

But the listed episode numbers are a little screwy too. "My Screwup" is 315 and "My Tormented Mentor" is 314, which is obviously backwards.

what a freak
This is rather disgusting:
"For the night, FOX averaged a 15.2 rating/23 share, doubling up second place CBS' 7.6/12. ABC was back in third with a 5.5/9 and NBC limped to a fourth place finish at 5.4/9. UPN had a 2.8/4 to beat The WB's 1.9/3."

I wondered if the discussion of the patient's death from an aortic dissection was a tribute to John Ritter, since he had played JD's father. The reason I ask is because that is kind of a rare condition.

I watched the first half when I was on lunch and I was pounding the table in laughter at JD's impression of Cox and his BIG poster under the word "HIM" in the janitor's closet.
for the prolonged first hillside landing.

BTW, the incidence of a dissecting aortic aneurysm is estimated to be anywhere between 0.1 to 0.8%. It's not common, but it's not super rare either.

Concur with everyone above. Great show, great episode. Having it on Tuesday is no problem for the TiVo. And agree with the comment above that with Friends and Frasier going bye-bye NBC will need Scrubs more than ever.
