Csi 3/11/04

Nice gruesome recreation of the death to open the show as a female prison inmate appears to have snuck herself under a bus, only to have her body get all mangled when it hits the road in transit and gets caught at a bad angle and rips apart. The resolution of that case was pretty far out.

The other case with the guy with a gambling problem and a brother who needs constant supervision/guardianship wasn't all that interesting.

I don't know if I'm starting to suffer from CSI burnout (between this and Miami), but I felt the whole episode "wasn't all that interesting".

A-story was decent. B-story, like you said, wasn't all that captivating. Regarding the burn-out comment, I can relate to that as I now think that I am simply "numb" to these two shows. Regardless of what they are about, they have little or no effect on me.

I was really burned out, I don't watch Miami anymore. I can't imagine how a 3rd show will do.

You know, I was watching this with all the ripped off arms and legs and heads, etc. and all I could think was that the head of CBS and the rest of the goverment was all up in arms over a flash of a breast, but it's OK to show the violence and gore in this episode. Weird double standard?

Besides that, I enjoyed the episode.

I thought it was a pretty good one. Even the B story was interesting, to me anyways.

But I agree that CSI has come to wall somewhat. They can either grow and climb over that wall or keep ramming themselves into it.

The stories are getting more and more unrealistic. They really need to focus more on the human element, more like Law and Order or Without a Trace. They keep going for the shock value and that is starting to fade. The best parts of the show now are the scant character development scenes.

This show has put me to sleep the past couple of weeks. I think I dozed off for about 10 minutes right after the opening. I thought the bus story was decent. The b story was bad and pretty easy to figure out.

I felt bad for Warrick at the end when he had to tell the kid he was broke and his guardian was going to jail.

Speaking of that story how many times have they used the suicide for insurance money story now? I can think of this and the guy who shot himself and then then threw the gun in the nearby pond from last season.

With the 3rd one coming next year I can't imagine how bad this show will be.

The thing that got me was the 10 card '21'... man that's tough.

But then Warrick said the record was an 11 card '21'... that's just plain wrong.

The only point of the show worth remembering in that it was Sarah that made the insect connection... and revealed that Grissom had gotten her a Christmas present when so one else got one... hmmmmmm.

Nick's just jealous!

... was it just me or was the head M.E. a little off his rocker this ep...

I wasn't paying very close attention, the dealer had a 10 card 21?

Since I recorded it, I went back and got the numbers.

He had: 10-10 for a 20.

The dealer had: 2-2-2-3-2-A-A-A-A-6 for a 21.

Using the double up system he lost over $102k in 10 hands.

According to Warrick, the record was an 11 card 21 in '78.

I thought I was lucky when I had a 6 card 21, that would suck to go up against that.

Is there any legitamacy to the double up method? It seems to a rather flawed system.

Very flawed for the reason shown. The Dealer could go on a run and win all 10 hands.

What is the double up method? You just double your bets until you win or until you make a profit or what.

Ok let's say that you bet $100 - If you win you would get an additional $100

However if you lose then you are down -$100 you need to make another bet that will get you back the money you lost plus make you a profit... so if you bet $200 and if you win you get $200 ($100 you lost in the first place, and $100 of profit).

Let's say you lose again you would have to bet $400.. to win $400 ($100 loss 1st bet, $200 loss 2nd bet, and $100 profit).

so if you keep losing then the wager will go like this:

Betting Round Wager
1) $100
2) $200
3) $400
5) $800
6) $1,600
7) $3,200
8) $6,400
9) $12,800
10) $25,600
11) $51,200

Total Bankroll : $102,300 needed to sustain 10 straight losing hands of black jack to win $100

double down method means that you normally make a little money, but have a small chance of losing a lot of money. The more times you can double down, the lower your chances are of losing. If you double on every sucessive win, you will normally lose a little money, but have a chance of winning a lot of money.

BTW, is there an episode this week?
