Playing It Straight (New Fox Reality Show) Egads

One girl looking for love... 14 men...

Half of which are only "pretending" to be straight...

If she chooses a straight guy, they split the million, if she chooses a gay guy, he gets the money all to himself...

Yeesh... Just when I think they can't scrape the barrel any lower, they go out and buy a deeper barrel!

(Not that I'm really offended. Lack of class crosses all boundaries!)

I can't tell if it's a one-shot deal or a preimere: Friday, March 12th.

http://fox.com/playingitstraight/

So, who's their target? Women? Gay guys? Pro-gays? Anti-gays?

I'll probably TiVo it, since it's likely to feature some hot gay guys, but--yeeeesh--I expect most of it to be cringe-worthy... Why do I subject myself to such things?

I guess like Queer Eye, it's one of those not-exactly-positive-but-what-the-hell kind of things... (It *is* a series, it looks like...)

Gaydar is such a dumb concept to begin with...

This show has the potential to score in the upper 90's of the UCR.

years from now some game show will have a catagory like "on fox". Where all the subjects will be these way out there gutter level junk shows and you will have to guess if it was really a show or not.

"....and they had a little person pick between a full size girl and a little person girl...."
BRRRING...
"Not really a show!!?"
No I'm sorry that really was a fox show, you lose.. Next show title, pick out the gay guy..
BRRRING...
"Not really a show?"

Of course my friend who has the worst "gaydar" I have ever seen, seems to feel gay guys on this show would stand out being they can't act straight. Errrrr yeah being gay people never hide that fact in life and all gay people act the same way!? .

needless to say I live in california, a state that is a little more open then say the midwest. So I think he has just gotten used to people not really needing to hide personal issues.

Of course I hate to say this but odds are my own mother will love this show. She talks about how much she thinks these sort of reality shows are pure junk but geeeeeeee she sure seems to know alot about the story lines for some reason.

What's so bad?

It'll show that maybe the distinctions between gay and straight men aren't so different. That's just the impression I got from the commercials.

What if there's only one straight guy in the whole pool of men for this bachelorette?

Maybe they'll test the gay guys by introducing some hot dude and seeing if they get boners.

Anyone else watch? I caught the last half hour where one of the guys makes the "gay" mistake of lending the girl his hair dryer. Cute girl with lousy gaydar. Two of the guys she eliminated were straight. The guys have lousy gaydar too. It would be Fox for all the guys to be straight like one of the guys mentioned.

I'm thinking I'd rather see the converse of this show:

1 guy, 14 hot girls (some being lesbian) and have the guy try to figure out which are the lesbians...

Did anyone else notice that the host (Daphnie) was the girl from DirecTV's preview channel. This is going back some 4 years or so.

It's channel 222 on DTV - that customer information channel.

I think we have a winner!!!

The girl is definitely a looker, mind you it's not hard to find good-looking women in the Midwest, but she seems very naive. She does have a nice pair of legs.

The guys are obnoxious as hell - and I am sure a lot of that is the producers fault, etc.

Yeah, I recognized her too but not from DirecTV (I've never had it) but I think she used to host a little program that TiVo aired.

Jackie is from my home town of Appleton, WI so I had to tune in. I certainly recognized a few of the background shots, especially the one showing her walking her dog (it's not that far from my house).

I tend to steer away from reality shows involving relationships (sticking rather to the likes of Survivor and Amazing Race). After watching this, I remember why I keep to that rule.
