Scrubs 03/02/04

Scrubs is consistently excellent, last night was a follow on from last week, with Perry still being all down.

And Jordan having two friends over for 2 weeks. The scene with JD in the bedroom was hilarious.

And I am glad to see more of the todd in any episode.

Not sure what I think of the new surgeon yet, and wonder how long she will be around.

I enjoyed this episode even though I got to the end of it and thought "That was a lot of fluff - nothing happened". However, I also realize that *I* like many of the characters needed a break from the intensity a little to recover from Ben's death last episode. I mean WHOA. This lighter tone (smacking Todd around, sexual harrassment with Carla, etc.) was a decent direction to pursue after that.

I was kinda let down. After riding a high the past 3 episodes this one was kind of average. Not much going on. Not particularly hilarious either.

I think they need less of 'the Todd.' He works better as a bit player. He only needs to be in one scene max, after that it is overkill. I mean they smack you over the head with how dumb this guy is, and you think how in the hell did this guy ever become a doctor, much less a surgeon. Whereas if he is just in a small scene you don't really think about it.

Thought it was a good episode.

Hot Doc's rant to Elliot was good, the quick delivery and swirrling tassle motion was great.

The "I love Vagina T-shirt" by 'the Todd' - Great!

Perry's conversation with JD, calling him Abby and then going off about not writing him a letter.

(Jordon's friend talking about JD)
"This guy is quick, how is he in bed?" ... "Quicker"

It seemed especially short and pointless to me.

The Hot Doc kinda got on my nerves. Can't tell you why, but she did. I think this was a pretty average ep of Scrubs, still making it better than 90% of the dreck thats on tv these days. Also this show has done more for natural women, and the bras that support them than any show EVER! There is like a shirtless woman every other week. Wonderful.

I liked when the janitor walked by Ted with the Korean girlfriend.

I thought it was funny.

The complaint box and Cox chasing JD were good.

I didn't mind the increased screen time of The Todd either.

I loved Kelso's response to the complaints "notice that the 'K' in Kelso is lowercase in all 5... well it was worth a shot"

not the best ep of scrubs, but still good.

Bad news

From the TV Column in the Washington Post covering last weeks ratings winners and losers:

Winner:
"The Apprentice." After frustrating years of trying to launch sitcoms on Thursday night only to have them picked apart by critics and rejected by viewers, NBC has finally found its next Jennifer Aniston: Donald Trump. Trump has improved NBC's Thursday 9 p.m. ratings by 40 percent. NBC entertainment topper Jeff Zucker, who has secured Trump's services for two more editions, calls the show "a huge game-changer." "I'm not trying to diminish the loss of 'Friends' . . . but the fact is we're picking up so many more hours of almost equally rated new programming that it's not the kind of hole that we would have been facing."

Loser:
NBC's Tuesday sitcoms. The comedy lineup hit some record lows last week, including the return of "Frasier," which suffered its smallest audience of the season and its third smallest rating among 18- to 49-year-olds in the show's history. After that, "Scrubs" secured its second smallest audience ever and a series low in the demographic.

NBC needs to face the facts, nothing is going to go toe to toe with American Idol. ..ahem MOVE SCRUBS BACK TO THURSDAY!! lose the lame ass Will & Grace nonsense. Move that dreck to Tuesday.

Pretty good episode. Cox and J.D. were great together, especially when Perry was chasing J.D. around the hospital.

Janitor w/ the Korean bible study girl and the closeline to J.D.

I thought the new surgeon was alright. She got a little irritating at times. She would be really good looking, but her chin irks the hell out of me.

Jordan and Cox's moments together were great (as always). Kind of liked her friends, too.

WAY UP!

I hate NBC's nonsensical marketing/promotions/programming department.

They wouldn't know a great sitcom if it was a furry little rodent...

I love Scrubs as much as all of you, but we do have to face some facts here.

People are idiots (hence the success of reality TV.) W&G does better than Scrubs. Thursday night is the hottest advertising night.

It's not about educating the public about quality television. It's about making money, and W&G makes more money than Scrubs. It's pretty simple.

Well moving the show to another day and doing no promos about it is a good way to sabotage a show that would have done well otherwise...

Promos may help, but I honestly think that Scrubs is too good for the "average" television viewer.

I agree with that. I hope he doesn't turn into the next Steven Urkel.

I really don't think we have to worry about that. He's a one-joke character and he will stay that way - I don't think they are going to expand on him much. It would be a waste of their time, they already have enough great characters on the show w/ prominent roles.
