Enterprise - 03/03/2004
Episode #18 - "Azati Prime"
Written by: Manny Coto, Story by B & B & Coto Directed by: Allan Kroeker (go-to director for Trek "event-episodes" of the past 7 years) Here's some addional information about the episode: S P O I L E R S From TV Guide: Archer's rash gamble to demolish the Xindi's planet-obliterating weapon imperils both his crew and the future in a pivotal episode. Criticized for its alleged blandness, the series returned for a third season with an emphasis on action, which this tale dishes out with a shovel. As Archer readies a captured shuttle for a suicidal attack on the Xindi fleet, time-traveler Daniels (Matt Winston) warns the captain that his death will prevent the creation of the Federation. Equally profound is the effect Archer's plans have on his crew---especially T'Pol. In the first half of a dramatic two-parter (aren't most two-parters dramatic?), Archer (Scott Bakula) and the Enterprise crew finally make it to the Xindi super-weapon construction site. Crewman Daniels (Matt Winston) time-travels into the future and doesn't see sunshine and lollipops -- but Archer is still determined to save his beloved Earth. Leaving T'Pol (Jolene Blalock) in charge, Archer leaves on a veritable suicide mission to the Xindi bomb targeting the planet. The remaining crew tries to leave the alien territory undetected, but they're forced to face down a barrage of Xindi ships once exposed. |
a little early?
|
Yeah, why not? :)
|
It's never too early to bash Enterprise, but I'm going to wait this week since this sounds like it has a chance to be a good one.

About time they got to the Xindi, this story is getting too old

wow, we actually saw bodies get sucked out. that's a first I think
I wanted more of the Ent-J, exterior shot would have been nice. Hopefully Daniel's intervention (purposely used this word since it is used for other important things, like when a friend is doing some harmful) will get this back onto the "birth of teh federation" storyline |
Wasn't too bad.
Was that a Promethus class ship we saw in the background during the battle? |

"Only a precise hit will set up a chain reaction. The shaft is ray-shielded, so you'll have to use proton torpedoes."
I had a serious Star Wars vibe going throughout this episode. Only, instead of the Death Star being built in orbit around Endor, it was being built beneath the waters of Naboo. Even the plan to destroy it felt like Lando piloting the Falcon. T'Pol is now officially not a Vulcan. It's either some crippling disease, Romulan blood, or some other reason. But, it's been getting worse the longer she's in the Expanse. This episode easily had some of the best production values in a long time. The underwater effects and attack on the Enterprise were kewl. :) It will be interesting to see how they deal with a crippled ship and no easy way of repairing it. |
T'Pol is so non-vulcan it's disturbing. At first I just figured that not all Vulcans acted like Spock or Tuvock. But this girl isn't even close. She's crying, yelling, irrational, etc etc. Either the writers/directors are screwing up really badly or there's an underlying story here.
So T'Pol has a thing for Archer but she's sleeping with Trip? Not that I have a problem with it, I just wanted to make sure I'm seeing things correctly. My guess is that the Andorians show up. D |

T'Pol is female, what's so surprising about her behavior?
*ducks* |

Hate Cliff Hangers....
Wow, I totally expected that the damage would be undone via time travel: Daniels comes back, picks up Archer, says "See you are an *******," then starts him over again to do it correctly.
We'll see. |
