Anyone rember the Uncle Floyd Show?
I was talking to my bother last night and we were talking about the shows we would watch on UHF in the early 80's.
I clearly remember running to the TV after dinner and tuning in that UHF knob to get the Uncle Floyd show.
Anyone else watch this show?

Apparently David Bowie did because he wrote a whole song about him on his "HEATHEN" cd. When he plays it in concert, they show bits of the show.
David Bowie
Slip Away
Written by - David Bowie
From - Heathen
Oogie waits for just another day
Drags his bones to see the Yankees play
Bones Boy talks and flickers gray
Oh, they slip away
Once upon a time they nearly might have been
Bones and Oogie on a silver screen
No one knew what they could do
Except for me and you
They slip away
They slip away
Chorus:
Don't forget to keep your head warm
Twinkle twinkle Uncle Floyd
Watching all the world and war torn
How I wonder where you are
Sailing over Coney Island
Twinkle twinkle Uncle Floyd
We were dumb but you were fun, boy
How I wonder where you are
Ooh ooh
Oogie knew there's never ever time
Some of us will always stay behind
Down in space it's always 1982
The joke we always knew
Ooh ooh
What's a matter with you
C'mon, let's go
Slip away
Ooh ooh
Chorus
Back

Yeah, we got it in Boston one summer on WSBK, guessing it was '83 or so; it ran M-F at 11:00 or 11:30 PM. Floyd still does the show (in a bluer version) in clubs around NJ/NYC. There are a few tribute websites that cover the show's history in excruciating detail; sorry, don't have the addys.
A coupla the musicians that occasionally appeared on the show (Floyd's brothers) ended up playing at our wedding back in '96......

Oh I definitely remember Uncle Floyd on the UHF. It was ch. 68 here in north Jersey. UF knows Jersey very well and still appears all over the state.
Looney Skip Rooney
Scott Gordon
Martian Paint
Oogie
Also, don't forget, UF appeared in the Robin Williams movie Good Morning Vietnam.
Here's a pic I took of him performing his "act" at a Metuchen NJ street fair back in june of 02.

UF was the last of the best local shows when I lived in Long Island- It was a great show that I looked forward to everyday- He was the most popular show- remember that the UHF channel (WWHT68- New Jersey/WSNL 67 Long Island)- was also the home of WHT The movie network?- WHT was a subscription based service with a special antenna and decoder box that would have first run movies, specials, sports, etc scrambled and you would need a decoder box to unscramble the picture- They would show the entire months programming the 1st week of the month- I really liked the service and the way it was scheduled.
Also you can catch Floyd Vivino in Goodmorning Vietnam and Crazy people
He also had his show run late nights on NBC a while back.
