Average Joe 2/23/04

What is Larissa's secret? Is it that she had a dingleberry!

Fredo removed himself from the show after spying via a submarine on Larissa and Jim, and they were making out, which turned Fredo off of her.

Damn Jim was a dum-dum. Can't remember the last book he read...without a reading tutor, most likely!

Brian's styling has gotten much better since his comb-forward hair-don't. Given the 2 choices, I think Larissa will actually pick Brian, but she isn't as sexually attracted to any of the Averages Joes as she is to the Beefcake Brigade.

My best guess at Larissa's "secret":
Spoiler:
She was once married. I got that vibe when she was talking about her 9 month relationship that "moved too fast."

I can't believe Mr. Bean made it to the end.

I agree with Groucho on the secret with one other possibility...

Spoiler:
maybe she has a kid?

From the "Next week on" preview last night they are setting it up to look like she picks...

Spoiler:
Brian. Which leads me to believe that she'll pick Gil. Plus in the preview there was shot of her in tears at the final cut. I'm guessing those are for Brian since she didn't seem that "attached" to Gil.

Here's my prediction for next week's winner, based on what we see in the previews:
Spoiler:
Mr. Bean tells Larissa "I love you," scaring her off, and causing her to pick Blondie by default.

If she picks Gil, NBC would have 2 chickas going for looks over "substance". Oh well.

It's easy to critcize her for choosing looks over substance, but aren't the Average Joes just doing the same thing? I mean, every one of them seems to have fallen for her, and I dont think it's because of her personality since as far as I can tell, she doesn't actually have a personality. The "Average Joes" are looking for a trophy girlfriend/ wife as much as anyone else.

Wow. I didn't realize Larissa would dump Jim over Gil. I thought it would be down to Jim and Boston Brian at the end. But now it's Gil and Brian. he booted Jim who is without a brain. And kept Gil without a heart and Brian without courage.

I think it's very clear she will pick Brian next week.

About her secret, I'm speculating that she used to work as a stripper when she was in college to help pay for her tuition.

I don't think anybody disagrees with that. I think Patman was just pointing out the irony that they could do two shows called Average Joe and they end up pairing the cheerleader with the quarterback. They sold the first season on the premise that this hot girl is going to have to pick one of the schlubs. Bringing in the male models makes the show more interesting in the middle, but it's pretty unsatisfying to see the underdog lose in the end. Especially if they go two for two.

I won't mind much if Brian loses because I don't like him at all. Though he doesn't seem nearly as weird as he was in the first few episodes. It won't be as bad as the first season with Adam losing to that idiot waiter/model who lived with his parents.

I also think that her "secret" is the fact that she has a kid. She probably wants someone more secure and more dependable to act as a father to the child.

As for her being a stripper, as cool as that would be, I think the Miss America pageant (or whatever contest she was in) would have found out long before, especially after the Vanessa Williams fiasco.

What the hell was with letting (forcing) just one person spy on another's date? I haven't watched any of this season until last night (it was on in the background as I worked on some paperwork), so I don't know if this was the standard type of thing they were doing.

The spying thing was dumb.

I thought that was a crock too. If you're going to have them spy, why single out a single guy? Let all three go and "watch" or at least explain to the other two, who couldn't understand why he left. Show them the same thing that he saw, perhaps they would have understood then. That was a poor "twist".....

Good point. I didn't think about her in Miss USA pageant. Now I'm leading more toward her with a kid theory. The search for dependable father might mean she will pick Brian over Gil.

It's not like they have to get married to one another, it just seems like the show is about Larissa some lucky guy to go on a vacation with her.

I co-worker thought it'd be cool if her secret was that she
Spoiler:
used to be a guy
, but after seeing the episode at the school I'd say that's highly unlikely...

That would be a shocker if she turned out to be a HE. But I really doubt it. She's too pretty to be a guy.

The funny part was Jim kept trying to convince her/us that people get the wrong impression about him that he's actual smart

Guess what "Fabio" Your not!..You came acrross like a pretty boy and a f***n idiot

I applaud Larissa for actually going beyond looks and trying to find a longterm mate

She's the total packade and I hope Brian from "bawston" wins!!

"Where do you fly?"

"Everywhere"

I couldn't stop laughing at his response. I guess it was better than if he said "The Sky"

My guess is that she was married as well. I think that she is going to pick Gil, even though he doesn't seem to have any personality.

I think that it was a painful reality check to see how this dumb guy (Jim) was in the end rejected, but made her heart flutter more than any other dude throughout. As a result, he got farther with her physically than anyone else.

Let's face it, if he even had average intelligence, she would probably have kept him. Just goes to show that if a chick likes you, you can usually do no wrong.

Frankly, I don't like that Brian guy. He looks and acts like the typical 31 year old geek virgin who is completely awkward with women. Watching him at work is embarassing.

Is it possible that the editors had some fun with how they portrayed Jim, or is he really that dim? He made Jason from the first AJ look like he had a multifacted personality.

I just find it weird that both of the women picked to do this show were former Miss Missouri USA title holders: Malena (2002) and Larissa (2001)... so if they did an Average Joe 3... the gal would be: Miss Missouri USA 2003: Tara Bollinger

You want to know what I think the twist is:

Spoiler:
... I have no clue, but I doubt she has a kid, was a dude or is a lesbian. I think her secret is that she can't stand baseball!
