Enterprise drinking game. New episode 2/18/04

Doctor's Orders -- Phlox takes command as Enterprise's human crew members are put in comas until the ship clears a deadly disturbance in four days.

Since this sounds like a Voyager remake, let's try something different this week: The Enterprise Drinking game! (BYOB)...

Alien Double Cross (Enterprise meets a friendly alien that ends up attacking the ship, stealing something or kidnapping someone) -

Continuity Error -

T'pol gets naked -

Somebody uses the transporter -

Porthos moment -

Travis gets to do something -

Hoshi hears a who -

A Cave!

Dr. Phlox heals someone with leeches (or any other critter or plant) -

Remake of an original series episode.

Remake of a Next Generation episode.

Remake of a Deep Space Nine episode.

Remake of a Voyager episode.

Remake of a BAD Voyager episode. (One six-pack)

Trip gets a boner.

N'Pol gets cranky.

Reed gets pissy. (as this is British English for having drunk too much, no beer for this one!)

Phlox gets randy with one of his leeches (this week only)

During the 10 flashbacks that set up events this episode, they slip in a clip from Voyager and nobody notices (Picardo is listed as guest star) – Wizdar buys for the house.

A stupid banner appears with a reminder that "You are watching Enterprise on UPN!"

Whoshi? I thought there was just the Archer, Flox, N'Pol, Trip, Porthos and sometimes that security dude. Who is this Travis you speak of?

Actually, I've always hated Hoshi, so I don't really mind her lack of screen time.

Actually, it’s the feminine version of being pissed off, kinda like being "on the rag". Reed’s never struck me as the John Wayne type, if you know what I mean.

This show is hilarious. I never saw whatever episode this is taken from (Voyager?)

I thought it was predictable and reminded me of the Twilight Zone. It was pretty clear Tpol was absent from reality because she wouldnt do anything to help Phloxy!

eh
not as bad as I was expecting, but far from great
you'd think with the threat of it only going 4 seasons they'd try to wrap up the expanse and get back to fixing the continuity and time line
whoops, I forgot B&B are still in charge

Not bad. Somewhat more original than the Voyager episode and much better acted.

Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer) recently had talks with Paramount brass regarding the fate of Star Trek: Enterprise, according to a new online rumour.

Cinescape's anonymous source told the web site that Bakula took part in a "secret meeting" with Paramount executive Garry Hart. Hart, who has been President of Paramount Network Television since 1993, oversees shows such as Frasier and JAG, as well as Enterprise.

The talks reportedly centred around "the future leadership and direction" of the latest Star Trek series. Cinescape's source speculated that "Hart may now be working with Bakula to put a new production staff in place to save Enterprise."

Last month the same source reported that Enterprise executive producer Rick Berman could be on his way out, but any decision about the make-up of the production staff would not be made until after the show's February sweeps performance was assessed.

As for this week's episode: Yawn. The only thing interesting was the expanded screen-time given to Porthos.

Porthos was cool!

In the drinking game we got 5 beers for Porthos, 4 beers for stupid banners and one beer for T'Pol getting cranky.

On the down side, Phlox got naked.

They also borrowed a bit from a Twilight Zone episode that featured William Shatner. (There's something out there!)

I kept thinking of the scenes in Austin Powers where he is running around naked with random things convienently covering him up.

Remember...its all fun and games until you almost shot the captain's dog.

BTW: Is Porthos full-grown? He looks a little small (or is that the natural size for a beagle). It has been 3 years so he should be full grown by now.

I'd say he's full-grown. As I recall there is a sub-breed of mini-beagles that can be about 2/3 the size of the breed standard.

Berman Death-Watch Ratings

Week 1: 2.4/4
Week 2: 2.5/4
This Week: 2.4/4

If nothing else, audience size is consistent. Very low, but consistent.

I'm sure the small bump last week was due to the preview showing N'Pol.

Well, those are the fast nationals.

The final ratings have been around 2.6 the past two weeks.

So, what does all that felgercarb actually mean? (I’m tempted to use the Princess Bride quote. ) The numbers are still below anything a “successful” show would be proud of, yes?

-----------------------------

Porthos, you rock!

Other than that, I thought I was watching a “Sci Fi [sic] Original Movie.”

When Phlox had his orgasm towards the end I almost blew chunks. And the T'Pol reveal was a big surprise, right?

Just out of curiosity, what finished 18th?

The only redeeming thing about this episode was the increased Porthos screen time (I loved that dog it's so cute).

Well, it's about time they gave more screen time to Porthos. He's about the most interesting character on the show.

I have a friend who refers to this show as "The Porthos Chroncles" and swears the last episode will show us the whole thing was in Porthos' mind, which is why continuity is so bad. (He's only half kidding.)

Sounds like a good enough explanation to me.

Actually, we may be on to something.

Ya know, “the expanse” does some weird stuff.

How ‘bout an episode where Porthos morphs into an intelligent bipedal creature (with a beagle nose and tail) of superior intelligence and everyone else devolves to the mentality of a dog. Porthos takes command of the ship and pilots it to a safe area of space.

Meanwhile:

Archer won’t know what “it” is for

Head Grunt goes around “marking” everywhere he goes. Reed follows closely after and re-marks

Phlox chases his bat around sickbay

Travis just sits around and scratches

Trip tries to mount everything that moves

T’Pol tries to get everything that moves to mount her

Hmmm. Except for the Porthos thing, doesn’t sound too much different than a normal show. Oh well.
