My DVR just totally ERASED itself!!!

Well right in the middle of Survivor, my DVR turned itself off.
Once I got it back on all my saved shows were erased!

I had about 22 hours of shows:
Smallville
Gillmore Girls (2 episodes)
One Tree Hill (2 episodes)
OC
etc

Then about 3 hours of my wife's Soap Opera.

And then three News episodes where my wife was featured on a story (had been meaning to transfer it to tape to save but didn't get around to it yet).

Pretty disappointed but will take it back tomorrow to get another box (This is Timewarner's DVR).

Anyone else ever have this problem?
What would you do if it happened to you?

Condolences.

The vids with your wife, that's a real tough break.

My Tivo has been unplugged accidentally several times without any ill effects.

20 years ago I prolly woulda gone Office Space on the thing if it happened to me. Any more, TV is so disappointing I’m not sure it would matter. Well, the thing with the wife might have set me off, depending on how cool it was.

I keep hoping it’ll accidentally erase Enterprise – no such luck.

Survivor, OC, One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, soap operas...

Good luck finding your testicles.

I haven't heard of a problem like this, but I don't have any experience with a cable company PVR.

What did you have to do to "get it back on"?

I know I know

Well last week it was acting up.
It would pause for 5-10 seconds at a time and/or "hiccup".
Then it shut off, and when it came back on it wouldn't access my list of shows.
I unplugged it for a minute, and everything came back fine.

It worked fine for the past week.

Then tonight, when it happened all the shows were erased after I unplugged it and plugged it back in.

Then I recorded C.S.I. without a problem tonight and watched that.

But I'll just bring it back to TimeWarner tomorrow to get a new one.

debating the pros/cons from switching from TimeWarner/DVR/RoadRunner to Sattelite/Tivo/and some other highspeed internet.

Sounds like your hard drive crashed. Unfortunately, it happens.
