If "24" Sees a Season 4, Should the Plot Revolve Around Domestic Terrorism?

I know it may not be "popular" with some people, but what do you think? All three seasons have involved terrorists from other countries.

How interested would you be in seeing the show deal with a domestic terrorist(s) for 24 hours instead?

My idea for 24 is that they kill off Nina & the Prez's wife (can't remember her name right now). How long will the leads in this show go on trusting these people who screw them over every season?

And yea, time to come up with a new plot. How about some type of crazy backwoods militia terrorists.

There's no doubt in my mind that if a new season happens, most--and quite possibly all--of the big main characters are done. There's nothing more that can be done with Sherry/Nina as they probably will have resolutions this season. David Palmer, although I like him, can't be double-crossed by his own people any longer. Personally, I think Jack might be done after this season and if so that means Kim is out too. So I think this is the last season we see of the regulars.

But there's all kinds of domestic terrorism--look at McVeigh.

Maybe some kind of terrorist/hostage situation?

Of course there will be a Season 4, i think that's a given. They only way it wouldn't happen is if Keifer doesn't want to do it anymore.

Word from E! (character spoiler)

Spoiler:
Sarah Clarke (Nina) will be terminated, for good, from the series before the end of this season.

I remember reading a recent interview with Kiefer somewhere..........where he had said that the show would continue without him soon ( he would still be a part of the show but as a producer)........in his own words "how many times can this guy have a bad day?"

What Keifer said was that he WANTS to continue to do it for a few more years - but realizes for the show to continue that there will have to be some turnover in the cast (like Law & Order does).

But I think the producers realize that - no matter how unrealistic - Keifer IS the show. A season without him would no doubt bomb in the ratings unless they found an equally strong actor to replace him (what's David Douchovny doing these days?)

If I were Keifer, I'd do the show as long as possible. Don't pull a David Caruso and think you are bigger than you are. Milk it for all it's worth.

He better not leave or get killed off. After many mediocre roles he finally landed a great one. He does such a great job as Jack Bauer. There's never a moment where I doubt him in the role or see through the performance. If he leaves, the show is over for me.

As for militias, it's outdated. Maybe next season Jack will have 24 hours to prevent the release of ED WOOD? "Nina Meyers has the dvd, I repeat, she has the dvd. We're running out of time!!!"

I think the next season should involve Kim getting pregnant -- with the Anti-Christ.

Duchovny would be a great replacement for Keifer. too bad he would never do it though.

Does anyone else get the feeling that next season may take place between last season and this season? Just seems like Jack would've had another bad day in the years between seasons 2 and 3.

That is what I would like to see. This gives you a full year of the Salizars, the beginnings of Chase's career and Kim in school/training(to show us she is actually qualified for the job) for CTU(not to mention go back to the 'hot' haircut. Also you would get another year of Palmer, maybe clearing up that disease on his hand from Mandy.

I think this route has the best possiblility of happening. Although, they would have to come up with some clever cliffhangers since we know they all live.

I agree a move away from terrorist event would be a nice change. A kidnapping is a classic way to get the clock going again, but that is overplayed on the tube a lot. Perhaps they can up the ante by kidnapping Palmer's Son, and then blackmailing him to set the wheels in motion for a wild ride. You may or may not need to get bauer involved at that point.

I would like to see some overseas action. Maybe Chase and Jack being sent overseas to track down the Germans behind Nina, something a little away from the same threats of the past 3 seasons.

Fox executive said, "Kiefer was joking, what else will he do for now."

Something like that, unless something is given to him film wise that is pretty big, he'll stick with 24 and use it to do occasional very good roles like Phone Booth. I'm a big Kiefer fan, so it's very cool to see him back in the lime light since 24 began, and get to see over a thousand minutes with Kiefer each year as a oppose to a few hours in whatever film he does.

There's not much difference between some films and tv these days, ever since Miami Vice changed tv back in the 80s, tv could be a tool for great entertainment,24 is a show that can only work on tv, not cinema, yeah you could condence a story, but you'll lose the detail and time the full 24 episodes gives you.

Even the film website, Cinema Confendential did a story on 24 a while back, 24, because it's so exciting, and they never comment on tv shows, only 24.

I've never heard the "Miami Vice is responsible for quality TV" argument before.

There have been lots of rumors that one reason they skipped 2 years this time is so that they can do a Direct-to-DVD mega-movie-type-thing to cover it all. I think that's also a good reason that they got such a quality actor to play Salazar this year - so that they can use him for it. If you notice how much stuff isn't answered about the past 2 years, it makes more sense that they would be interested in this: The Horse-mouth girlfriend of Hector & Jack's romance, whatever happened with Jack while he was undercover, whatever happened with Jack and hottie from Day 2 (we see her for a few secs in the first episode of Day 3), how the hell Kim got a job at CTU, etc etc.

But covering the events of the past 2 years would be impossible. The point of 24 is to show the events of one day. The only way they could do it is have one hour of the day be used for a character to tell another one the events (includes flashbacks).

I'm still waiting for Donald Sutherland(maybe a foreign diplomat) to show up as Papa Bauer. Maybe they could use him in a hostage crisis overseas. Then Palmer could get his head out of his ass and instead of turning on Jack every chance he gets, he could say "ya know what, you've saved my life and millions of others countless times, take whatever resources you need, CTU, military, whatever, and get your dad and the other hostages back."

I still wanna prequel to the first season. I wanna see how Jack became such a badass ... show the horror of losing all his men in pursuit of Daddy Drazen.

I just assumed Chase is in there as "next gen" material, but then again, the whole hook of the show is setting up and twisting expectation.

The next 24 should flip the entire premise on its head. Follow Nina as she tries to carry out a terrorist plot and get away with the money while CTU does everything it can to stop her.

At the end of the first 12 hours she fails, and has to spend the next 12 trying to escape capture.

Oh no. I draw the line at any resemblence to the 'Left Behind' franchise.
