anyone surprised cbs let some swearing go? Unless i heard wrong didn't big boi from outkast say the N word during "way you move" and andre got away with saying "just want to make you cuma" (which is edited on the mtv version)
oh and 50 cent is and was an ass for coming up. |
From what I saw...
The funk medley was GREAT! Everyone needs to get acquainted with Robert Randolph. The song they chose fit nicely into the medley, but it isn't one of my favorites. The Zevon tribute was cool until they had the backup singers on stage. That was REALLY awkward. Would have loved to see Lori Perry on stage accepting for songwriting, just cuz she's such a freak. "Hey Ya" sounded great with horns. The marching band was right on!! Love Andre telling off the bandwagoners. SouthernPlayalistic... is still my favorite Outkast album. "I'm leaning back my elbows out the window, crime and endo fills my body, where's the party?" Stank you very much! |
Oh yeah, good to see Richard "Sign it on the dotted line" Marx is still around. Most played video in history pre-'90.
|
But my question remains unanswered.
WTF was Sting wearing a dress during Roxanne for? |

Give it a little time. I'm sure they'll show up somewhere.

anyone notice that this is the first time in years where grammy's didn't go to artists who had just performed (outkast is the exception) the acadamy has been notrorious for doign that the past few years.

Hey, "A Mighty Wind" won. Cool.
And Kylie, too. And Bill Clinton. |
Nice Grammys this year.
Many duets or collaborations this year. No gangsta rap although we still have a pimp introducing an act. No televised classical performance or award. Madge made a surprise visit. I forget how she's a media whore. Norah Jones looked very plain. And Martina McBride gave a very good performance. Prince was good to see performing a song he wouldn't touch for years because of the Warner Brothers slave flap. And the whole funk session was cool. Old school R&B legends like Earth, Wind & Fire got a much deserved spotlight. But George Clinton is too long in the tooth. Beyonce was especially hot in her Dangerously in Love Part 2 performance. Christina's looking more and more like a slutty Betty Boop with the haircut and makeup. And her boobs are falling sideways. She doesn't have any cleavage. You can't fault her for her voice which deserved the Grammy. I thought Justin was going to start crying over the whole Janet Jackson debacle. Andre3000 didn't fail to entertain with his Indians from outerspace theme. |
Prince is still great, but he didn't need Beyonce up there other than for eye-candy (which was pretty damn sweet, incidentally). Years ago, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince wouldn't have dreamed of sharing the spotlight with some here today, gone tomorrow "talent."
Now if only Prince would put out a decent album... |

At this point Prince needs Beyonce more than she needs him. 2. Princes apparently knows more about "eye candy" than you do....i.e. Mayte(sp?), Carmen Electra, Sheila E, Vanity..... 3. Beyonce's no "here today gone tomorrow" star. 4. Not having a decent album in YEARS is part of why he needs Beyonce more than she needs him..... |
Well, there is no doubt that Beyonce was up there to bolster Prince's waning popularity. That was suggested in my second sentence.
I have no idea what you mean by "Prince knows more about eye candy than I do..." And we'll see about Beyonce's longevity and signficance in pop music... |

Lemme know if anyone finds a video or audio clip of the White stripes performance.

Overall a decent show
1. I wish they would have moved Prince to the funk performance and let him perform alone. No he may not have released a decent album in years but she totally didn't help the performance. Maybe he'll parlay his Rock n Roll HOF induction into a cool new album (fingers and toes crossed). 2. Nobody mentioned the beautiful rendition of "A House is Not a Home" Alicia Keyes performed. Great song and she nailed it. 3. The funk performance was just cool. Big Boi backed by Earth, Wind & Fire how can I be down. 4. I didn't think the Sting/Sean Paul performance was that bad. It certainly wasn't as horried as Sting/Puffy thing from awhile back. 5. Andre3000 with the marching band - that was certainly original. If only they didn't make us wait so freaking long for the performance! |
So Jimmy Sturr got snubbed again? Any word on whether or not he won his 14th grammy? Is there a list of winners somewhere?

Originally posted by AndyCapps I'm ticked that this thing went to 11:30, yet they couldn't give Dave Matthews his Best Male Rock Vocal Performance Grammy on air. He had to find out he won from Joan Rivers before the show. It's a freaking awards show, yet they'd rather drag some performances on forever and whine about how downloading is bad than give out the freaking awards. Agreed. They need to re-evaluate which awards to give out on air. They should never cut perfromances though. That should be the backbone of the show. |
