We don't know that at all. It's edited in such a way as to suggest that, but we certianly don't know it.

When I see that clip, do you know what it looks like to me? Watch him stand up and turn around. This looks like the bride is about to walk down the aisle. Generally, the father walks the bride down the aisle and the mother is the first to stand and turn. If for some reason he's not walking, he might be filling this role.

I'm not saying either way - he may well object - but we don't KNOW that he does. Not from that clip. It wouldn't be the first time a spot has been mashed together to suggest something other than what really happened.

That was my thought.

My wife and I caught this the other night (missed the 1st show). I was shocked to see Randi is from Littleton, which is where I'm at. Her parents' house looks like it's nearby (style of house, etc.)...and she's in my age group, too. Anyone know where she went to high school? Sadly, of the "lots of guys" she's dated, I wasn't one of them. But she's absolutely darling.

I thought it was funny when Randi's Dad said she was raised with proper morals and values. I was thinking the entire time how great those morals are that she will con her parents and friends into believing she is marrying someone they dont like all for some money. I mean Im not against her doing it, Id do it too but my family and friends know Im flawed.

It's weird that she is so excited about this half a mil for her, considering her family doesn't really look like they are hurting in that department.

I have a feeling that she's probably been pretty dependant on her family's money, and this would give her a little freedom.

Great stuff.

The sister and the knife, belching and hot tubbing was hysterical.

Being from Littleton, I wouldn't be suprised to find out that the Dad is military or ex-military working for a defense contractor (I know a few there). And while they are probably fine financially, she is still just making school teacher wages and probably isn't living at home.

So I would agree that they are probably upper middle class, I think $250k would still be a huge lift to her, and probably even them (pay off the house or pay it down).

From many of the comments in this thread it seems to me that the cracks are showing - I wouldn't be suprised if EVERYONE in this show is an actor.

That being said, I'm still enjoying it. And I hate admitting that I'm watching a "reality" show.

Are we saying that Randi wouldnt realise that her parents have been replaced by actors or that Randi is an actor too.

Randi wants the $250, 000 just to move the hell away from her family.

Special encore presentation tonight at 9 for those who missed it the first time.

I haven't seen this series before but you've all convinced me to give it a shot. It sure looked dumb.

mookiemeister 02-05-04 08:11 AM

I'll probably watch the encore presentation again even though I already saw it on Monday. The show is packed with so many funny moments, sometimes I see something new when I watch the encore.

I think the biggest crime was the title of this show. It turned alot of people off.
If it was called 'The Fiance' and had better comercials it would be alot more acceptable to some people.

BTW, anyone see steve in the Hungry Man commercials? He gets blown over the gym lockers by the guys hair dryer.

She's a teacher ... half a million is a lot of money for a teacher.

Tommy Ceez 02-05-04 11:43 AM

considering her family doesn't really look like they are hurting in that department.
Unless at appx. 25 she's still recieveing an allowance, her familys money really doesnt factor into her life.
Plus she's a parochial school teacher...

take what you know about teachers salaries, and cut it in half

spainlinx0 02-05-04 12:44 PM

It was more I got the impression that she comes from money, and not that I thought she makes a lot.

mookiemeister 02-05-04 01:46 PM

Teachers don't make that much money. She can definitely use the money unless she's already loaded.
