Angel 1/28/04

"Damage"

Damn, that was a nice episode, and it felt like an old fashion Buffy/Angel episode.

I was glad to see DeKnight and Goddard at the writing helm and they didn't let me down.

The dialogue was snappy and witty and the repurcussions of Angel and company working for W&G finally hit home.

Andrew was cracking up Fred in the first scene in the boardroom, you had to look at Fred to see her trying to stifle the smiles.

agree on all accounts

I'm just getting impatient with them not continuing the Leslie arc. I waited years for them to bring that character back. And it doesn't look like it'll be part of next week's ep either.

Who was the Dana chick? She was impressive. And hot.

Navi Rawat. She had a recurring role on the first season of 24.

I agree very good episode nice and dark the way I like my Angel. The reality of working for W&H looks like it is really hitting home now with the gang. I was actually surprised that Andrew did not bother me nearly as much as on Buffy, maybe since he "matured" a little and grew some balls at the end confronting Angel with the slayers. It was cool to hear what the old buffy gang was up too even though it was a little vague. Glad they did something with the slayer storyline as we knew there would be more "Faiths" out there.

Season 5 has been a rollercoaster either the episodes are terrible or are very well done, really no consistency. Here is hoping once again things stay good.

This episode was outstanding on all levels. It was as dark and dramatic as the best Angel episodes and as hilarious as the best Buffy episodes. Just a great episode all around and one that seemed to be made with longtime fans in mind

The writers seemed to enjoy using Spike as a pinata in this episode. Loved the line about bouncing off the ground.

I don't agree at all. This season has been outstanding to me since the beginning. Granted this episode was better than most this season but thats not really a fair comparison because this was one of the best episodes of Angel as a series

I loved that they addressed the slayers storyline and a small update on what the scooby gang's up to. Although I hoped that Willow would've moved past Kennedy by now. I always enjoyed Andrew so it was good to see him again.

And this season has been a BIG rollercoaster to me. I'm really confused about what this season's story is supposed to be. Right now, it's closer to a bunch of stand-alone eps. Maybe it will get clearer by the end.

If you've been waiting years for the return of LINDSEY then at least get his name right. Anyway, this episode was rather pointless for this season. Especially since its been confirmed that Sarah Michelle Gellar turned down the offer to bring Buffy back this season. The hour was a nice wink for the Buffy fans who wanted to know what happened to the Scoobies. Anyone who was new to Angel or didn't watch any Buffy would've been completely in the dark during this episode. Also, what was up with that lame ass ending? When did all the Slayers arrive to LA? I'm assuming they came with Andrew and just waited in the van the entire time. I thought they were the good guys. So, why not save lives by having a ton of slayers hunt down one? And whats the deal with Scooby Gang assuming Team Angel are now evil? Not even bothering to call or visit to see what the hell is going on. Stupid crap like this ruins an episode.

Andrew needed Spike or Angel to hunt down the psycho slayer (a la bloodhound).

Andrew said it a couple times "Thanks for doing the dirty work". Since Angel & Spike were already on the case, why get EVERYBODY involved? Just sit back and let A&S take care of it.

As for the Scooby Gang assuming Team Angel is evil...I thought it was pretty explanatory when Andrew said "You work for Wolfram & Hart". If Wolfram & Hart is supposed to be epitome of all things evil, why not assume something fishy was going on? Then again, I suppose Buffy should realize that things aren't always as they seem. Perhaps they would've addressed this if Ms. "I'm-too-good-for-the-spinoff-to-the-show-that-put-me-on-the-map" Gellar had agreed to come back.

BTW...isn't it time for Dana & Faith, the Vampire Slayers show..?

I really enjoyed the end when Andrew told Angel what everyone else (particularly Buffy) thought of the group now that it ran W&H. That was a great scene and it will be interesting to see where they take things w/ this little revelation.

Andrew was obnoxious, yet hilarious as hell. When he compared seeing Spike alive to seeing Gandalf the White after falling in battle w/ the Balrog - I was laughing my ass off. Then he threw a few more pot shots in from different movies. I remember the Yoda line and the Viggo/Aragorn pectoral's line. What were the others?

Spike was good this episode, as was Angel. I enjoyed their scene in the hospital towards the end and their little discussion about evil.

I want Angel to off Gunn and get it over w/.

Patman - I noticed Amy Acker smirking and making faces when Andrew was giving his spie, tool. It was pretty cute and amusing.

Andrew even got in a Sam/Frodo reference when he hugged Spike in the boardroom (prompting Fred's bemusement with the scene).

I wonder if there will be a showdown sometime down the road with all those slayers against the firm.

They do. They've been suspicious since the Season 4 finale. I've always been under the impression that Angel agreed to run the firm in exchange for Connor being given a family and no memory of his real childhood. And obviously now he can't confess this to the other members of Team Angel since they've also been brainwashed. At least I hope this is the explanation they eventually give.

That's one of the frustrating things about this season. So many questions about the storyline and where it's headed, yet almost no answers even at the halfway point.

I really enjoyed the episode.
Last I heard SMG was going to do a few episodes of Angel.
I must have missed the no vote somewhere.
What Happened?

Wow. Three comments from the Houston area in a row. Cool.
I tend to notice crazy stuff like that.

Doughboy, my comment was in response to Lara Means query "And whats the deal with Scooby Gang assuming Team Angel are now evil? Not even bothering to call or visit to see what the hell is going on."

Andrew never really implied that Team Angel was evil, just that they couldn't be completely trusted. They just don't want to take any chances because they don't know exactly where they stand

Great episode. Probably the best this season. I was kind of dreading the return of Andrew, but he was a hoot. And the final scene between Angel and Spike was extremely touching.

Didn't he outright say something to the effect of "we're not on the same side anymore"?

I liked the episode, but unfortunately it reminded me of the that whole multiple slayer storyline which I didn't really like at all. I understand the motivation which was to free Buffy from her responsibilities without killing her a third time, but I never liked the continuity problems it brought up.

That's besides the point though. This was one of the better episodes this season, and I hope it continues.

Again as others have said, great episode.

Personally, I loved hearing where all the Scoobies are.

I second the vote for a Faith/or Dana Vampire Slayer show.

#100 will possible be the best this year.

I also, hope angel gets renewed for atleast one more year. Either WB or somewhere else; I just think it will take two seasons to have a completely satisfying end to Team Angel at W & H.

*cough* *cough* *choke*

Sorry, something stuck in my throat. Loved the dialog at the end of the episode - "She's a monster like us". "She's an innocent victim". "So were we".
